I don't think this is a great deal when the iphone 11 can be had for as low as $60 from Metro PCS, that's with 1 month service included and you wait 6 months instead of 12 for unlocking.
Other than the 12 is 5G and the 11 is not
I was able to add the phone and $15 plan by going to phone buy page selecting color and clicking check availability. Then before choosing a plan open new tab and BYOP (https://my.boostmobile.com/shop/buy/plans/) with $15 plan and click Choose Plan. Total (before tax) in cart $214.99.

My total cost is $231.13 INCLUDING the 12 months of service because months 2-12 are free from Boost Coins. I spend about a minute each morning spinning the wheel and watching one video. Plus I got $53.35 cash back from the Top place.

Service has been fine, but the 5GB on the $15 plan is just a little low for my kid's usage (ran out one month, and will likely run out this month) and it is a hard stop. I asked about upgrading to the $25 plan, but was also shut down.
Just updating this, I've still been able to cover the $15.16 per month, but I have had to increase to 5 videos per day instead of just the one and have just barely made it the last few months. I may end up having to pay a couple of dollars out of pocket in months 11 and 12, but still over all, it's been a great deal. After reading some of the T-Mobile issues, I'm glad I was sent an AT&T card.

Wow so many questions!

What plan were you on?

Did your last month end on the 365th day or did you have to start another month to get it unlocked?

Was there any sort of notification it was unlocked on the 365th day?

Thanks!

I am in the same boat as you I chatted with customer service and they told me I could buy it as a new account and just put in the existing boost Sim card and it will work. We will see!
Did your phone unlock after 12 months of use, even though it wasn't the plan purchased with the phone?

That is too bad. The worse part about their unlimited plan though is de heavy de-prioritization that makes the unlimited plan almost impossible to use, save for hours (mostly at night) of less network traffic. I guess it depends on the place you use Boost service as well. But at least for me during the day the heavy de-prioritization makes connection very unstable despite having good cell reception. I don't know why as I have also tried cricket unlimited using also the AT&T network and that works well. On the other hand the Boost limited data plans (like the 5gb plan) are not as heavily de-prioritizated and actually works really well. Somewhat better than TracFone and visible over the Verizon network in fact, faster than cricket. I wouldn't mind the 40 dollar plan given the deal but the heavy de-prioritization definitely makes it a no. It would actually be better if they offered in their unlimited plan stable connection even if it's capped at 5mbps or so as cricket does. Better have reliable connection than very fast speed that you cannot use most of the time
I'm pretty sure all Boost mobile plans get the same level of deprioritization - QCI 7 on T-Mobile if you get the white SIM, which most people get. This is the same level of deprioritization as almost all other T-Mobile MVNOs like Metro and Mint. Unless the 5 GB plan uses an AT&T black SIM, in which case I have also found deprioritized AT&T to be much more reliable than deprioritized T-Mobile.

Yeah you can freely swap the Boost SIM. Not sure what their official policy is but I constantly swap mine between a couple of different devices without issue. They even send you an email automatically that you've successfully swapped devices, which is pretty neat.

thanks
so I noticed when I put the boost sim in an old iPhone 8, boost sent themselves a text message. I'm assuming it tells them that the SIM card was put in a new device

I noticed the same when I did It with a cricket SIM card

Got mine unlocked yesterday. Was told it would be automatic, but didn't happen in the morning. Chatted online and got it unlocked the next day, 12 months and one more day.

What plan were you on? And did you have active service when it was unlocked?

On the $15 monthly plan. Yes, I'm still on the active service since the coin thing basically covered the cost so far - I only paid a $5 once, and twice under 70 cents in the past 12 months. Will keep the line as long as the boost one app keeps covering most or all the cost.

Thanks for reporting your experience. I will hit the 12 months next month, also on the $15 plan. It's good to hear that if it doesn't automatically unlock, customer service will push it through.

You may have to try a couple times. The first agent wasn't that helpful in my case. But the second got it unlocked. Good luck

If I go to settings –> general –> About -> carrier lock and it says "no SIM restrictions," that means it's unlocked?
