The regular price was never 249
The $100 price increase a few years back was such a Zuck suck move. Tech is supposed to go down in price as it gets older/crustier.
It was. And honestly the 2 is 3 years old now. I'd pay the extra for the Quest 3 and not sync money into the 2 at this point. Maybe $200 for a Quest 2... Maybe
I now have the Quest 3 and while it is noticably sharper and the clear sweet spot is much larger. It's probably not worth double the cost of the Quest 2.
The problem with both the Quest 2 and 3 is you need to upgrade the head strap and face pad. On the quest 2 a face pad with better ventilation helps keep the fog away. The stock quest 3 face pad feels like a dish scrubber...it is horrible.
If you can only afford the Quest 2 you're not missing much. It's really close to the Quest 3 if you can dial in that smaller sweet spot of clearness.
I'm using both for multiplayer gaming.
PCVR is the great equalizer, but I'm now leaning towards purchasing VR games on metaquest. Both quest 2 and 3 graphics will be fairly equal in pcvr. Theres not much difference in fov or resolution. There is a difference, but its small..They often give you the Oculus pcvr version too and the portable quest versions are just easy to use with out a PC.
The wireless is great and I've had no problems with airlink or the dlink airbridge while using pcvr. Reviews show others do have issues with wireless and wired pcvr...Ymmv.

I know everyone wants a deal on the Quest 3, but that isn't likely to happen and if it does it will be less than $50 off the Quest 3 512gb.
Also Meta in the next few months is releasing a quest 3 lite to replace this quest 2.
I would not be buying a quest 2 unless your getting it for a very good price used, which you can find cause all the upgraders can barely give them away.

It doesn't look like any games are included with the "Holiday Bundle" (unsure what is being bundled, therefore...I guess the hand controllers and the like)?
I read games run between 5-25G'ish, so wondering if the base 128G will suffice...might not jump head first into this, but he may and don't want to regret laying out another $50-$75 and cheap out on the storage.
And while looking to see if they had a subscription plan, much like Ultimate/Gold on Xbox, it appears Meta+ is the ticket? Worth the price of admission for a year? And, excuse the rookie questions, it's almost like the old Netflix model where you could have 2 disks out a month, but in this case, Meta chooses which two games are available each month??
Lastly, it seems this is a standalone system not requiring anything else to use; however, isn't there a way we can pair it with his Xbox and play some other *stuff*?
I'm binging videos and trolling sites answering many of my questions on my own, but thought I would ask before I spin my wheel and miss out on any perceived deals. Many thanks!
