Phone unlocks after 365 days

Starting February 29, 2024, Metro by T-Mobile introduces the online "Bring your number" (port-in) option. People no longer needs to go to the store to get scammed for keeping their phone numbers to enjoy the deep discount. You can choose a $40 plan in most cases (even though it may say a $60 plan ($65 with autopay) is required). If you buy a phone with a new number, you need to choose the $60 plan. The free phone check-out price is $65 for the OnePlus N30, Moto Stylus 5G 2023, etc.
Metro $60 per month plan that is $65 per month ($60 with auto pay), your first month is $65 (tax included). the checkout is $65

The promotion price and availability changing daily basics , especially for the hot items such as iPhone 11, iPhone 12.

$115 ($49.99 + $65 plan) with port-in for iPhone 11
https://www.metrobyt-mobile.com/c...-iphone-11

There are three purchase options.
  1. "Bring your number" (port-in): You can choose $40 plan or $60 plan, many free phones, the checkout price is $40 or $65. iPhone needs $60 plan to get discount. For iPhone , you need chose $60 plan to be able to have discount price!
  2. New number , you can only choose $60 plan ($65 with autopay) , many free phones, the checkout price is $65
  3. Existing user can add one line for $40 plan , the total checkout price would be $40 , for free phone
Many other phone "Bring your number" option to get $200 or more discount!

You can activate the phone before or after receiving it. If you don't activate the phone, the system will automatically activate it on day 21 after it is shipped. You should receive an email from "T-Mobile US" with the subject "Your phone is now active" to give you details about your phone, phone number, etc.

If you're porting from Google Voice and having issues then the direct line to Metro's porting department is 800-518-7519

Metro by T-Mobile 180 days unlocking policy! [metrobyt-mobile.com]
180 days after activation, your phone will be eligible to unlock! you don't need keep the service for 180 days, once your phone got activated one time, after 180 days, your phone is eligible to unlock!
Unlock eligibility requirements
  • The device must be purchased from Metro by T-Mobile.
  • The device must not be reported as lost, stolen or blocked.
  • One hundred eighty (180) days must have passed since the device's activation date.
Metro confirmed multiple times that the deciding factor of your phones unlock date is whether it was activated before May 1st (180) or after may 1st (365), interesting to see how it plays out because people in here have the terms stating that its 180 days until unlock after may 1st.

Any other information about unlocking is fake or scam!
Do not waste your money to get third party unlocking service ! it won't work.

The MOTO Stylus 5G 2023 has *6* GB RAM, not 4gb, per the Metro website. And assuming its the same phone that shipped last time, it has eSIM support as well....

Also, Metro By T-mobile also has the T Life benefit, which means you can redeem 1 year of MLB.TV for free if your line is still active on 3/26/2024.

Now they've done it...
New wording for Metro unlock policy:

https://www.metrobyt-mobile.com/t...ock-policy

"Unlock eligibility requirements
We unlock mobile devices that meet the following eligibility criteria free of charge:

The device must be purchased from Metro by T-Mobile.
The device must not be reported as lost, stolen or blocked.
Three hundred sixty-five (365) days must have passed since the device's activation date."

Should obviously only apply to purchases made after they changed the rules.
But might have to fight for that...

Finally they're locking people for 365 days.

I told here that party will be over soon.

Still I feel it is good deal to hold for 365 days for personal use only (which make sense for majority of posters)

ok folks.

i think we need to stop with the "i told u so"

look these metro deals have been around for 10 + years.

no one abusing anything.

all following the "terms " set by metro itself.

now, based on the terms which were foolish to begin with.

perhaps metro finally realized their stupidity

No, it should be called out, and it is a fair thing to do. I saw that many bought 10–15 devices (even more) to sell, and that caught the eye of Metro (finally after 10 years).

It is possible Metro doesn't even care, and we fools are getting into this.

At the same time, it is sad that it has come to 365 days, but it is still okay with me. I am using it for personal stuff.

I posted it in the metro thread, and there are so many metro deals posted here. It will be hard for me to find out unless I spend a good time digging it up.

All I said was that Metro would catch this and change the unlocking policy, i.e., change the price of the phone or something else.

I didn't predict (not that I am God) that they would change it to 365 days. Also, I am not the only one who said it, but a few others as well before me.

Absolutely DO NOT ORDER the S23 FE on their website!!!
The website will show the $49.99 price throughout the checkout process including after you have submitted the order. However, they WILL charge full price of $599.99 to your card and send you the full price on email confirmation.

DO NOT ORDER S23 FE online.

Edit to add:
Called customer support and the rep was pretty much useless. He said nothing he can do and told me to wait for the order to arrive and return it through UPS. I escalated to the Supervisor/Manager and she will submit an order support ticket to help cancel the order. Wasted half an hour on the phone.

u & i have interacted before on rational terms.
with out the name calling

but

do u really think one person buying 10-15 devices caught the eye of metro.

and 10+ years of having poorly designed promotions had nothing to do with it?

yes it was bound to happen.
people have been saying this for last 10 years.

also u r using for personal stuff. and that is ok.

once again, why do u get to decide what is ok and what isnt?

When I said I decided anything? Nobody is deciding anything here. We are just a small fish in the pond.

When so many people take advantage, that's when Metro started changing prices, and it is not you who take 10 or 1; it doesn't matter. As a matter of fact, I also bought very few phones from Metro but still contributed.

All I am saying is that Metro will end this, and it happened sooner than later. Still, no big deal for me as long as we are not forced to pay monthly fees to unlock. 1 month of fees to unlock a phone in 365 days. Still game on. Anything they change to a monthly fee game over.

but u did take exception to one person buying 10-15.

why?

how many did u get over last whatever many years.

why is that ok? but buying 10-15 is not.

I am too late in the game, as I joined the Metro deal last year and bought 4 phones and 1 tablet. Also, thanks for poster like you I come to know about metro deal of unlocking world (also other poster hpham)

I don't care, to be honest, how many you or anyone else bought and sold. All I am saying is that the game is over for someone who is in the flipping business, i.e., someone who posted in the A54 thread that he bought 10 or 15 A54 and is selling them on Facebook, CL, or any other platform. I am sure you're not a serial flipper, but try something and sell once the novelty factor is over and move on.

I don't think the change from 180 days to 1-year for unlocking was the result of someone buying too many of these deals. I think it's one of the changes in T-mo grand scheme of things after buying Mint. Today, Metro announced Metro Flex which is a big change for Metro customers https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ikEKhFulQc . Who knows what else they will change?
