Right? I've got a Samsung front load pair (with a gas dryer), and while they've been alright so far (going on 5 years old)... I also only spent about ~600 on the pair, so I won't be too broken up if they don't make it 10+ years. I wouldn't want to risk it with closer to normal prices like this.

600 for a pair I agree I'd risk it with an extended warranty but close to regular price I'm going LG.

LG is generally considered the bottom of the barrel when it comes to appliance longevity. Samsung being one rung higher up. This is based on lots of discussions in appliance repair forums, the issues being both breakdowns and the difficulty in DIY repairs and getting replacement parts. If you're only expecting it to last 3-5 years and get a warranty you're fine with either though.

We "inherited" three fairly new Samsung appliances when we bought our house last year. I have already had to replace something on two of them.

Do not deliberately do this to yourself.

Like a lot of products posted on SD, this has the "this product is bad because..." element that comes from people who truly have had issues, but that doesn't always represent the brand overall. We have an LG washer that is 8 years old and never had an issue, which is better than the 5 years we got out of the top of the line GE it replaced. Also have an LG refrigerator we inherited from my mom when she moved, which is now 12 years old and never had a hiccup.

Wrong. LG lasts much longer. My pair has made it 8 years with regular heavy use. I own many for my company ans the first to go is the Samsung. Love their phones and I'm typing on one but no washers and dryers for me. Fail often and are expensive.

Just got the same dryer for $378 by following a link from Google search to Greentoe.

Nevermind, misleading order confirmation.
