Wow. Read some of those reviews on costco's site!
I have bought this from local costco and I was also very dissatisfied. It smelled like a manure not fully composted and the dirt was clumped together and very dry. It also doesn't hold water as well as the soil I get from Home depot or Lowes.

For those complaining about these being poor quality, just buy any soil then mix in your own perlite, moss, solid fertilizer etc. It'll be a lot cheaper and arguably better. For example I got a 40 lb bag of spaghnum moss for $35 and a 20 lb bag of perlite for $20 (from home depot) and mixed that with scrappy soil and blood/bone meal

I do 1/3 of this, 1/3 black cow and 1/3 peat moss. Then different fertilizers. All in containers.

Costco has the better version for $7.99 for 50 qt ( approx. 2 cu.ft.)
$2 off the usual until 3/31.

Dude do your math again, 50qts equals about 1.67 cubic feet NOT 2 cu.ft as you say

☝️ This.

And I would take out the "arguably" part.

As many others have pointed out, and as emphasized in the reviews, this Miracle-Gro stuff is a roll of the dice, and often contains a lot of junk that isn't even organic material (like literally plastic bits). You would think that a name brand might be worth paying more for, but in this case the only difference with Miracle-Gro seems to be that they pay for advertising.

I used to use black cow too but it often smell really bad. I just make my own compost with kitchen scraps now

I don't understand why people buy this at such a high price rather than bags steer mature.

It says can be used in Raised Beds. Don't know if you can believe the Organic claim ...

It's OMRI certified organic which is the only official organic certification for soils. OMRI certified is what you want to look for in organic soils and fertilizers.

Weed seeds and pathogens that can be found in cow manure. Also it's a lot easier to br
ing home a few bags of soil than manure from local sources.

I bought a few bags from Costco about 2 weeks ago. Added some lettuce seeds into where I poured the soil and already getting seedlings. I'm happy with it. Looks like the quality is YMMV

Why don't u just go to your local nursery or bulk materials place. Shovel some into into bins or your truck bed. Probably much better quality than the bagged mass produced brands.
