I got the dcf900 a few years ago and I've used it a handful of times. Changed a few tires, replaced suspension on gf's car, 2-3 brake jobs. Then one day the torque just gave out. I can literally grip the end with an extension bar and stop it from spinning. No idea what caused it, but thoroughly disappointed that it broke. I literally baby this thing. Going to attempt to maintenance the hammers and see what caused it, I've maintenance air impacts before so hopefully this is similar. Just heads up that dewalt impact are not as rugged as they seem to be.

We're not buying computers or smart phones here. The question is what youre doing to need 1700ftlbs of torque. There are large disadvantages to owning an impact wrench that's way too powerful. The high torques are much bigger and heavier, fit in less places, and for the average inexperienced user on SD, they'll just snap their bolt. As someone else said above, the 891 is most people would ever need. And if youre a mechanic or work on heavy machinery then sure you probably have use for the 900, but then you wouldn't be getting advice on "which wrench is the best value" lol.

If u watched the most recent TTC, there's a "891 equivalent" for $80 on amazon. No idea abour its longevity. I just ordered one. For someone who only wants a compact class wrench, "921 equivalent" is $60 for a kit. But i decided a right angle is better where id need a compact so i excercised self control.

That's interesting. The 891 was my "most want" (not need) 1/2 impact wrench for a while. I'll have to check out that $80 one.

Ignore this guy. Buy the most powerful torque wrench you can afford so you won't regret it. Use the 4 mode switch torque power to your liking.

Listen to this guy, so u can buy the bulkiest and heaviest wrench and use it once a year because you hate it and it doesn't fit anyway, as long as you have a mid torque or compact for everyday tasks like lug nuts.

Yes. Keep in mind you should torque lug nuts to specs. I broke a few lug bolts and learned.
