Then I picked up a small tube of high-temp RTV sealant and ran it around the gap where the top damper meets the main body top. I also removed the bottom slide damper, removed the factor sealant, and ran a small bead of the same RTV around its perimeter.

These steps pretty much guarantee the only airflow in and out of the smoker is via what you dictate with the upper and lower dampers. You can really dial those temps in.
It seems to me that getting this to "grill temp" takes a while unless you are cranking the coals. One trip through my chimney starter isn't gonna do it.

I really have no experience getting it to pizza or steak-searing temps, but I've seen a few videos of it getting up there, so I know it can. Just can't speak from any personal experience.
