If you stream a lot, spend a little more and get at least the current model and ideally the Max version. The slow/lag of the older/cheaper ones is not worth the savings in my opinion
Amazon has bloated the interface and these older devices can feel laggy. Planned obsolescence isn't fun. You can delete apps/cache and constantly do factory resets to restore some responsiveness, but it's time consuming upkeep. I have 7 fire tv devices.
Last three Fire Sticks I've owned, I was having to re-enter my DirecTV sign-on in streaming apps every week. Got an Apple TV months ago and have yet to do that. The Amazon sticks are decent for the first year then they slow down to a crawl on me. I am done with them.
Been using Fire Sticks since around 2018ish. Ever since the last 6 months, my Fire Stick 4K Max has been extremely slow, and it's a 2023 model. Fire Stick used to be pretty speedy, but now they are very slow. Inputs constantly are not received.
All my contents doesn't show thumbnail or images on apps are empty. Real annoying. Tried restart, which fixed for a day and problem came back next time.
