It's really tempting at this price! I'll just add my experience with it from December when it was $500. Image quality is great. Obviously OLED has better blacks but I had no complaints really. The power button is slightly off-center which makes it very difficult to use and I ended up having to use the remote to turn it on and off which felt goofy for a PC monitor. The issue that made me return the monitor however, was that any time windows turned off the screen due to inactivity, the monitor refused to work. I could press a key or move the mouse and the monitor would spring to life but just display an error saying that "no device was found on displayport, powering off in 60 seconds". This is an extremely common issue, if you google "odyssey neo g7 43 no device found" you can find an absurd number of forum posts since the monitor's release and not one single word from Samsung on the issue or how to fix it. There have been zero firmware updates for the monitor, you can still only get version 1.0 on the monitor's page. Other, more recent G7 monitors have had multiple updates in half the time. I could have made windows keep the monitor on 100% of the time, but the issue sometimes would occur even when booting up the pc and monitor fresh. The only way to fix the issue when it happened was to get under my desk, unplug the displayport cable from the pc, and then plug it back in. Doing this 10+ times a day made the monitor unusable for me. Folks online have had the issue when using HDMI as well. All this to say, it's a great monitor with some serious usability issues. If you are lucky and it works for you, great! I'd just make sure returning it won't be an issue if necessary.
One of the worst displays ive ever picked up.
Probably one of the most returned sets to. Back with the first sale amazon was flooded.

Tons of OS/software and input issues and the PQ is terrible.
There's a reason this is always on sale.
I was gonna hop on board but this is VA panel

ALSO, after reading the reviews and complaints, the multitude of youtube videos demonstrating the same errors (awful software embedded and super slow input switching and of course, samsung may make good products (when they work) but their customer service has ALWAYS been known in the industry to be one of the WORST).

I will trust my gut and still pass... but $399 is very tempting... even for a VA panel.

I was looking for a 34" UWQHD but this one for the price was a kill shot. I really prefer ultrawide because I use more to work, because I play my xbox series games at my big screen. For this one even for the sides is more quality, maybe i need to split in four to been more useful but ok, ill try lol.
The other good thing is that one have HDMI 2.1 that I can use 4K 120Hz that is more than enough.

Has anyone else had the same dilemma? Both for work and games.

By far the best display deal on the market. 43 inch 4k is the ultimate form factor ppi over 100 you can get 4 windows open at the same time at about 22 inches per window. Samsung makes a piece of software that will allow you have 6 windows the size of 10.1 inch tablets open at once. I own three of these and I just bought a fourth with this deal. Highly recommend.

Is this overkill for a bedroom TV to hookup a roku or apple TV to?

I have three of them all working great. The only issue I have is when I wake my laptop from sleep the signal gets corrupted and I have to turn my display on and off. Otherwise it's flawless I like that I can label each source home and work. The smart TV functions are quick with good onboard processor etc.

I am buying my fourth display for a bedroom. I have an older Samsung TV with slow menu function. It's great as a tv because it has good picture quality I have the Frame which is Qled this is neo qled and it has a better display. If you compare this to the Samsung neo qled tv you'll get similar picture quality at half the price.

This display will convert to 40 inch 21:9. I got the neo 57 and it was way too wide. I ended up returning it getting this 43 inch with the tobii eye tracker for flight sim.

I was able to get my employee purchase discount to work at 380 but not my education discount. But I'm not sure if it's because I went overboard this year and already exceeded my discount limit with Samsung since I got four of these displays in 6 months.

I had this same issue with this monitor. I didn't return mine, I just made it my kids' PS5 monitor/TV, so it's only in demand on HDMI, and only on when they are playing.

Actually, I've had the same DisplayPort detection issues with every Samsung monitor I've ever owned, including the 49" G9 OLED. And I tried it on 5 separate computers (4 PCs, 1 Mac), so it's not the computer, and all have different GPUs. I also sent the first one back, so it's a consistent issue. I think it's just a Samsung issue; I don't have this issue with my Dell or LG OLED monitors, or even LG LED monitors. But Samsungā€¦happens a lot and with every model I've tried over the last 15 years.

Still IQ is good/very good, contrast is a bit lacking, but well worth $380. Not at all worth $1000.
