Just ordered one. Great reviews if you need a large checked bag.

Ben Sherman…luggage….at Home Depot.

What timeline is this?
Polycarbonate is better. You'll see ABS, polypropylene, etc., but polycarbonate is the best. Good luck!
I'd put $$$$$$ on any airline never charging $200 for a bag being less than an inch per side over permitted dimensions. Its completely unrecognizable. For regular luggage they are only concerned about weight. If I'm wrong someone please comment. I would think the many reviews would have mentioned this if it were an actual issue. I'll keep it and hopefully it is more durable than my last amaz basic large checked.

Polycarbonate is more flexible than ABS and has a higher impact resistance. As a result, it makes for a stronger suitcase. ABS suitcases are cheaper than Polycarbonate ones, but they are often heavier and do not last as long.

If you prioritize cost-effectiveness, good strength, and ease of molding, ABS may be the better option. On the other hand, if you require exceptional impact resistance, superior optical clarity, and high-temperature resistance, Polycarbonate is a suitable choice.

I have never had an issue with fragile items in soft luggage. It's not like the entire luggage is filled with only fragile things. You can use your clothes to pad the fragile stuff. Hard luggage is heavy and difficult to pack.

What I really don't understand is hard luggage carry on. If you are handling your own luggage why do you need a hard luggage. the added weight makes it difficult to lift up to the bins. i had this lady ask me to help her with her hard luggage to the bin. When I lifted it, I almost injured my shoulder. I am never helping anyone with hard luggage again.

I like hard carry ons. I mostly do long multiflight cross continental trips. Soft side carry ons can get fat out the front when not carefully packed, which happens after a certain number of hours while traveling no matter how much I try to stay organized, when that happens the carry ons can get less stable and want to fall when just standing say in an airport gate while waiting for a flight, also my personal item is always a backpack sitting on top so that makes things top heavy and even more likely to fall if the front of the carry on gets a beer belly. That's annoying but it doesn't happen with hardside carry ons, even when expanded hardside carry ons will be much more stable because their wheels separate as well where softside carry ons don't, the wheels stay the same, they just get a bigger belly and get more tippy..

So that's why I prefer hardside carry ons.

Hardside check luggage.. If it's good quality PU it can be nice to have the hard shell, sometimes we bring back lots of breakable things and the hard side adds some stability so stuff isn't banging around inside. But! ABS is just so weak and breakable it is never worth the risk, like this suitcase will be around 50lbs easily packed, that's a lot of weight to be asking that thin eggshell to carry. Another disadvantage of hardside luggage in general is that if you travel with a large family and have lots of cases (like me) if all the big ones are hard, they want to slide off of each other in the baggage trolly which is pretty dang annoying.

But there are advantages and disadvantages to both, and unfortunately a lot of misleading advertising particularly encouraging people to think that hardside luggage is stronger than softside luggage. Although I like hardside and there are advantages for some situations, it is WAY WAY more fragile than soft luggage

Mine as well. I just went and measured the humongous luggage I've used the last five or six years and it's the same dimensions as this one. Never had an issue.

If you login to the Costco website and the click through to Travelpro the price is $239. It's part of the Costco Next program. https://www.costco.com/travelpro-...51578.html

I put the other link so people could see the description. I've added the Costco link to my original post.

Don't bother to get luggage with small wheels. Do yourself a favor and get the big wheel version.

A semi-boutique brand of clothes made popular in the 90s. I only knew the shoes and shirts (usually a "retro-modern British mod" look)
