Oil viscosity in the USA is based on politics not engine requirements

Okay Bros you got me I guess. Engines Don't Read Labels either so why don't you save some more pennies and throw in 85% Ethanol into your cars that call for regular gas because hey it will probably burn too.
All snarkiness aside I would agree that I'm sure 5W30 will still provide plenty of lubrication for an engine that calls for 0w-20. The more important question I was asking was WHY. Why spend the same price after all the fees etc for an oil lottery when you can just get the real oil weight that is called for.

Oil weight, per Pennzoil: The 0W or 5W refers to the pumpability in cold temperatures. Therefore, a 0W would flow more easily than a 5W and could be an acceptable substitute. Thus, it is suitable to use a SAE 0W-20 as a replacement for SAE 5W-20 application. **Offers same protection as 5W but also provides faster flow and better fuel economy.
Price: We run hundreds of thousands of miles on a small fleet of delivery vehicles. When the market allows us a brief window (thanks SD) to pay near or below wholesale on top brands, we load up. Some of these engines are over 300,000 miles and going strong. And they can give a rat's ass which jugs they're fed, as long as it's done on schedule and of good quality.
As for delivery substitutions, those are at buyer's discretion. Some I know have had orders cancelled and were not charged when out of stock, others who ordered Penn ok'd Mobil1 and Meijer brand, proposed as sub. before checkout. I typically will not pay more for the sub than I agreed for the original item.
As for the Why - I have been catching and using SD slick deals for a few years now, figured why not give back and post some fun stuff we come across? Enjoy!

Hmm well I obviously am missing a trick on DoorDash then. I used it to buy a USB cable and the dasher just substituted for one that was 10 bucks more and it automatically charged me. I didn't have any chance to accept or deny this substitution

Yeah well I didn't approve anything. It just did it. There are lots of reports out there of DoorDash being sneaky about this. They obviously don't want their dashers out there running wild goose chases and then coming up with nothing. Lots of people saying that they substitute any beer at all for an out of stock beer etc. In my case I wouldn't have cared except for the price. They took a 10 dollar item that their website said was in stock and just substituted a 20 dollar similar item. That's a big change and when their DoorDash website shows the original item in stock
s subjective. Some dashers rock, others, meh.
Yeah I had never used the service before and it really annoyed (and scared) me that they can somehow just grab any item and substitute it and it automatically charges me without any approval on my side. You might end up with any jug of oil or transmission fluid or milk haha.
I totally get it that the dasher doesn't want to be driving all the way out to Walmart or whatever for some specific item and then it's not there and they are just out of luck and wasted time with no compensation. But from the customer side it's too variable for my taste. Plus lots of fees and tips that change the economics. I don't trust the linkage between the Doordash website and the retailers websites

A lot of stuffs in the US occur because of politics and money.
