have this, OLED display burn-in, random restarts, firmware update requires steelseries app
Na, I have both the gen 1 and gen 2... Steelseries really effed it up by making it really dependent on GG engine/sonar. Also the fact that they never fixed the USB timeout/power saving issue that causes the DAC to stop mixing properly is annoying... A lot of tweaking and settings need to be changed by a power user, this device is not that user friendly for beginners
No, this one has gotten buggy for me unfortunately. Needs to be unplugged with the dials and LED not responding. Don't have any issues with mixamp pro 🤞

My 2 cents

edit: I have a gen 1 DAC, nevermind

Bought one at $70 on woot a month ago. Works great. Was comparing this to the mixamp and went with this. Have been impressed. (Use mine for Xbox)

No. You don't want an amplified signal (headphone out) going to something that is expecting line level input. You could fry your speakers pretty easily. (It would work to increase the volume level to the speakers and for some reason you are not getting good volume from a specific device, but otherwise you are trying to get a cheap car to go faster by putting rocket fuel in it. Best to invest in more powerful speakers. IMHO)

I think I would drop the extra $20 for a refurb Creative G6. My G6 has been very stable and sounds great.

If you already have the cables (optical, USB-C, AUX) this can be found used on eBay for $20 (PlayStation) or $30 (Xbox).

Am I to assume this only works with wired headset?
I currently have ASTRO A50 Gen 4 for Xbox.

Just avoid the Gen 1 (SC-00005) since it has a non-standard headphone port.

The Gen 2 PS model number is SC-00007, and Gen 2 Xbox is SC-00008.
