Cups from an aeropress should be much cleaner and generally lighter bodied than a French press. The aeropress is also about 50x easier to clean than any French press I've ever used and will never break, whereas French presses usually only last a couple years before an accident happens.
Another advantage of the Aeropress is that it is one of the most fault tolerant brewing methods. With a French press grind size is really critical. You really need to use a course grind with minimal fines to get a decent cup, but with the Aeropress you can use coffee ground inconsistently with a crappy blade grinder and still get good results.

If you're making 2-3 cups of a darker roast coffee for your family in the morning a French press might be worth the hassle, but for a single cup for myself I'll use the aeropress 100% of the time.
For what's worth, mine stopped working optimally after a few years, so no, they didn't last a lifetime for me. It's a good product though.

"Stopped working optimally"? In what sense? The only thing that can go wrong is the silicone part can get dirty / grimy / loose. And it's easy to replace.
I bought 2 a while back on a Xmas Slickdeal. They're fine and make good coffee similar to what you'll get from a french press. Still, can't help but feeling like I've been scammed paying $30 for a small tube of polycarbonate with a little rubber plunger on one end.
Yeah people think this is the same as a flair press lol

Agreed. I replaced my rubber gasket a few months ago and it's good as new.
Yeah I just moved into a new place with no garbage disposal & cleaning the fp is such a pain that it's pushing me to this direction. But also I've never heard a fp break on me, glass or stainless is super durable.
afaik you probably shouldn't regularly be putting your coffee grounds in the garbage disposal anyways.
Aeropress is really nice to clean because you basically "plunge" the coffee puck out and it typically comes off in one piece. Then quick rinse and good to go. I put mine in the dishwasher weekly- probably not supposed to but they're cheap enough to replace if I every ruin it.
My french press is basically only used for tea these days and rarely for that. One benefit of fp is you can make a large quantity, but I'm usually good with one cup at a time when brewing.
Warning. Do not buy an Aeropress, because Aeropress is a well-known gateway drug. If you buy it, you are prone to fall into espresso. And then you are lost forever.

Correct, the grounds can stick to the walls of the plumbing, especially if you also dump fats down the drain. Grounds should primarily be garbage or compost only. I really love this aspect of the Aeropress. It's quick to clean.

Definitely don't put grounds down the sink. Trash only, unless you want plumbing issues down the line.
I disagree that FP is a pain to clean. Dump grounds in the waste basket, rinse the last bits out, and then use a bottle brush with soap to really get in there and soap it up. The mesh screen is the most irritating, but I just loosen it a bit and then soap it up with the bottle brush, turning the screen a bit to get under areas that might have been covered before. Make it just loose enough to rinse grounds from in between. Rinse and let dry.
It's not quite as quick as the Aeropress, but it's really not that horrible to clean. And a stainless FP can just go in the dishwasher if that's your jam. Just clean grounds from the screen first.
