You can grow basil from the herb plants you buy at the grocery store. They are root bound so all you have to do is separate the plants into single plants. Trust me, if I can do it you can do it. I bought a pot at Trader Joe's a couple of weeks ago and I now have basil growing like mad. Unfortunately for Thai basil I have to buy the potted plants but they aren't terribly expensive.
I got a cut basil package from the grocery to grow roots in the aerogarden over winter, just snipped off the brownish end and stuck it in a peat cone. It didn't survive the transplant to soil though, probably too shallow a container or not enough water.

Thai basil can be easily propagated by placing cuttings into water. Get some Thai basil (We get ours with pho takeout.), remove lower leaves and flower tip, and place in a glass in a sunny window. Refresh the water every other day and you should see roots within a week. At that point, you can pot it in soil. Good luck!

If you have a Trader Joe's nearby they often sell medium sized basil plants for a good price. More expensive than Home Depot and Lowes but bigger and often healthier.

Go to any Asian grocery stores and get Thai basil from there. All you have to do is putting some stems in a glass of water by the window. They will develop roots in 10-14 days.

My gawd, find a local green house and buy from them. Quality will be superior rather than receiving plants in the mail, lol. What's wrong with our society?

Go local. A small nursery near me has 3 packs for 4 dollars. No wait on shipping and you get to see if they're healthy too
Yet they have the strictest return policies. The truck that drops of to them next stop is lowes. It's the same shit.

This not a deal. As others have said you can buy locally way more cheaper. Now if you are too lazy and don't want to go to the store I guess it's ok to overpay

I see the lowes 3 for 10 but I was just at home depot and didn't see the 4 for 10.
