This any good for a travel computer? Family would use it to move pics from camera to external hard drive, casual web surfing and watching medial.

Ok would it be worth the extra $95 to get https://www.costco.com/acer-aspir...33966.html or stick with this one in this post?

The i5-13420H has a significantly better multicore performance (but less power efficient), but the 8GB NON-upgradable RAM would be limiting.

Good enough. I have 2 laptops equipped with the same CPU (1 with 8GB, 1 with 16GB), very capable for daily tasks. The only 2 concerns are the size (I personally prefer smaller 14" for mobility) and unavilabily of USB-C charging. However, 1 full charge normally gives you at least 5 hours usage.

42Whr battery is pretty a standard indeed.

There is one open memory slot. I'm not sure about the m.2 drive. I have 2 similar models. They both have non removable storage but also an open m.2 slot.

At low settings, YES. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qV2h9TNvLDU

But I would strongly suggest to pop in another 8GB stick to enable the dual channel capability. It will improve the performance a lot. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y...RaU&t=580s

I was referring to Acer one in Costco.
8GB "LPDDR5" RAM is always NON-removable and NON-upgradable.

This Lenovo Ideapad 1i has 8GB DDR4 soldered PLUS an empty SODIMM slot for upgrade.

R5-7520U is using the old Zen 2 (Mendocino) architecture. It's inferior to i3-1215U in both single- and multi-core performance. More importantly, the iGPU is much weaker.

The Ideapad Slim 3 is a more compact 14" with backlit keyboard and larger SSD. However, the RAM of that is not upgradable.

Bottom line: both laptops are comfortably capable for daily office tasks, web-surfing and media consumption.

It would have to be this. The one you linked is old and slower than this one. I would also consider the asus vivobook flip that's for $300.

It's a trade off. backlight keyboard/larger SSD vs 15.6" and touch screen

Bought a laptop on eBay yesterday with similar specs for about $50 less. Acer Factory Refurbished "Like New" and with a 2 year warranty through Allstate like eBay Refurbished does. I think this is a better deal: ACER ASPIRE 3 - 15.6" LAPTOP AMD RYZEN 5 7520U 2.80GHZ 8GB RAM 512GB SSD W11H
You bought a used ACER, which is known to be pretty bottom of the barrel in terms of build quality and QA/QC. Lenovo is kind of the opposite of that.

After my last brand new $1000 Acer laptop I'll never buy one again. Had multiple "1 in a million" defects according to their customer support. Had to send the laptop off multiple times to get stuff fixed brand new out of the box.

All that being said $300 is okay for this, you can upgrade to 16gb ram for $320. No upgradable storage which kind of stinks. I would save and wait for something $350-400 with 16gb ram 512gb ssd, or at least the option to upgrade. Also look for touch screen and backlit keyboards if that interests you.
