Photography thread - for Schoob

10,796 659 July 8, 2010 at 11:18 AM
Schoob asked for people to post their photography in a thread.

I'm not a pro, but I take some good photos and I have a sincere passion for photography. Soon, I hope to learn more and take some great photos.

Since Schoob wants to see a thread about photography, here are some good ones that I took of Luray Caverns last weekend.

As you can imagine, it's tough to get good photos in a cave, but this is my favorite view of Dream Lake inside the caverns:

Here's the formation that I think looks like a little resting sherpa carrying his pack. Or, if you look at the back of the formation, it kind of looks like Vlad Dracul.

This is my favorite picture that I took of the Wishing Well:

Here's one of the ceiling of one of the caves:

And one of some contrasting stone:

Thanks for that... very pretty!
I wish I had gotten more than that, the sun went below the clouds shortly thereafter. Plus the angle of the sun is all wrong this time of year.

No where near as good as my shots from 2012, where the sunset was further north and over the lake from my view point:

My friend is leaving Austin at the end of November, I've gotten this picture printed up on metal as a going away gift:

I have to say, it looks awesome on metal, I almost don't want to give it away laugh out loud

Given the right conditions, Mt. Rainier can cast a shadow on the clouds above it. Be sure to check out the photo at the bottom of the article, it's the most stunning pic of all.

Spectacular! If I lived out there I'd have to get some of these shots and then blow them up and have them on my walls.

Right now I do have some pics (mostly the canvas prints but also a tin print and one just blown up and ink printed from a high res printer) of Valley of Fire, Red Rock and a photo book printed from shutterfly of pics from Sunset Cliffs in San Diego.

One of these springs or falls I want to get over to Mt Zion in Utah and get some nice scenery pics.

Very cool! I would love to do stuff like that but with the Fibro it's hard to do any strenuous hiking.

Yesterday we got a reminder of just how fickle mother nature can be. They had to evacuate the visitors and some employees from Mt. Rainier National Park due to heavy flooding. They were getting a lot of rain which was melting the snowpack. The creeks and rivers couldn't cope with that much runoff, so it flooded the roadways in several areas.

thanks! wave even more impressive, I somehow managed a four second exposure without a tripod and remote release. just stuck the camera on the railing of the pedestrian walkway and did my best to hold it in one place Cool if I had brought a tripod I probably would tried for something a bit long, so it would have been just streaks Whee but so it goes, not like I can get perfect conditions and the right equipment when I'm just on vacation and trying to get a lot of things in.
