the thing about slickdeals is sometimes it's kinda inconvenient. but that's why it's slick. time is money. when people want convenience, usually it comes at a price. if you are willing to do the work is when you are slick. that's why one of the cardinal rules of slickdealing is never call, go to the store. its those lazy asses in hot deals that always screw it up by calling. i started out in hot deals and i cannot tell you how many times somebody said they called and then a deal was dead. slickdealing is actually a lot of work, whether it be following threads, driving all over kingdom come for a deal, clipping and printing coupons, managing your q's, actually buying a newspaper, etc. i die of laughter every time somebody asks if there is a way to get the insert coupon without buying the newspaper. there are times when you have to calculate whether it's worth it to do all the work to do a slickdeal or whether you are better off paying for the convenience. and sometimes the gas is just not worth it. Flip flops were the footwear of choice at my nieces graduation. Lots of graduates had flip flops on.
When my great nephew was dedicated (special ceremony) a year ago, the Godmother wore flip flops with her spaghetti string dress (and not a strapless bra)... at least she wore a bra

Just to add to the whole flip flop discussion...
I think flip flops are inappropriate wear except for the pool, the beach, and the locker room. That goes for those nasty looking slides too. And wearing black (or white) socks with the slides is even worse. To me, it just says "I'm lazy. I don't care enough about myself or my appearance to try any harder." It tells me everything I need to know about that person - and it's not positive. The argument that they're comfortable doesn't hold water with me. Lots of things are comfortable, but that doesn't make them appropriate or right when out in the everyday world. And you'd better believe that goes double for wearing lounge pants in public. The sad thing is, this has become the norm, so it will never improve. We will never go back to dressing appropriately for being out in public. It will only go further downhill, although I'm glad that I can't think of what's going to be the next step in the wrong direction. I don't know what Dr. Oz said about it today, but I've said for a long time that we're going to see a whole lotta people with foot problems when they're older. Reinstate Getgreen09! Me too! Ok, I know I did somewhat start this conversation but I love wearing flip flops. But they are new and not held together with Duct Tape! HS Graduation was Sat and I did not see anyone wearing flip flops. Did not really think about it till all this talk came about cause I am so used to seeing people wearing them here. There were alot of sandals. Really flat ones with the fancier straps. To me they actually look more uncomfortable than flip flops cause the soles are so thin.Did you see the episode of Modern Family where Gloria wore really high heels on their trip to Disneyland? She ended up in something like those huge Mickey Mouse houseshoes. Which to me looked perfectly comfortable. ![]() I will be at Disney wearing Flip Flops part of the time. They are just soo cool (temp wise). Way better than sweaty feet! However, after a cpl days of so much walking I do end up in my tennis shoes. (which yes I bought a new pair) Wore them several times to break them in and they are ready to go. I actually bought them for exercising but I seem to forget how to do that lately. lol Oh and I also have some nice new socks. I am sure you all remember that wonderful $5 C9 tq! It was going on last time we were at disney (2010) and we still have pkg of new socks in our stockpile! And just for the record..I absolutely HATE seeing people wear lounge pants out in public. Really?? I say, if you are so lazy that you can't get dressed in normal clothes to go out, then STAY HOME! My kids should know better cause I really gripe everytime I see ppl like this. Just a heads up for anyone that uses the Kohl's cpns. My kohl's were being very picky this weekend when I gave them a $5 cpn. Cashier scanned it and the cashier on next register came running over and looking at the cpn. She then points out a paper posted near the register which was a $10cpn that had the word "fake" wrote in sharpie across it. She reminded her to NOT take the coupons and that they had received 2 already that morning. I looked and they were posted at every register. Then when DH went to this second cashier she would not scan it but punched #'s in and mentioned that they have to do that now cause even the fake ones scan but won't work if punched in. So just wanted to put that out there in case it is something that corp is aware of, or maybe just my local store. Today is the last day of school for DS!! 2 days to sleep in then vacation time. |

)?...heck to the no, but in casual settings I don't think it is an inappropriate/lazy/slovenly choice. IIRC I wore flip flops when I met y'all at the zoo. ![]() Now lounge pants are a whole 'nother story. I am completely amazed at how many people I see out at 4 or 5 in the afternoon/early evening still in their pajamas. Absolutely ridiculous. Now THAT is slovenly! Meh...

![]() You know I do have my slovenly days...but I do have the wherewithal to stay home on those days. ![]() People of Walmart pretty much sums up your theory! The other thing that really irks me is when people wear slippers in public. I mean really?!?!?! Is it that hard to throw on a pair of flip flops?

![]() Looks like a certain SD'er is temp on restriction. Maybe people are seeing the light?!And for the record, I wear flip flops. All the time. But ... I like them to be a little feminine, a little sparkly, no Adidas slides for me. My feet get very hot in the summer, and the last thing I want to wear is something that will make them sweat. And frankly, flip flops are lots cheaper than other footwear, so the wallet dictates this choice.
