What does invite others to use prime mean (under the account tab) does this mean to authorize others to use my prime account for free, or does it mean to invite others that have a edu. e-mail to sign up???
^You can invite anyone (up to 4 others), with any email address to share your Prime account. You won't see any of their purchase and they won't see any of yours.
Family invites may say that they are only for one month (at least it was for my wife) but they also get a full year and 4 invites!!! - Morning_Breath
- well, for the invites it said Subscription Duration = 1 month. However, the prime account showed valid until Jul 13, 2011. So we will know if it is valid for 1-year ONLY after 30 days.

This is nothing to worry about. If they do end up charging you, just call them and tell them you'd like to cancel. I had a three month trial renew on me, which I didn't catch until over a month later. I called, said I never used the service and didn't want to keep it, and they gave me a full refund on the spot.

2) Prime doesn't apply to non-Amazon purchases. Many times, the lowest price or the only available merchandise is from a third party vendor. On several occasions, I bought something where my Prime membership was worthless. I still needed to pay for the shipping from the vendor and that seemed awkward, because as far as I was concerned, I was buying it from Amazon.com. Yes, it is a third party merchant, but it is being brokered by Amazon and Amazon is making a good cut of the sale.
3) After my experience with the non-Prime purchases, I found myself looking only at the Prime eligible items. Invariably, many of the Prime items carried a higher price tag than partner vendors especially at low price points. Items that were $8 from most other vendors were $13 through Amazon.com. So I would get free 2-day shipping, but it was embedded in the price. Considering that I'd already paid for the shipping advantage by subscribing to Prime, it felt like I was taking money from one pocket and putting it in another.
Since this Prime is free, it's a pretty good deal.
