It's basically no account sharing and no access to Prime instant videos and Kindle Owners' Lending Library until your free six months is up and convert to the paid version of $39/year up to four years or when you graduate (whichever comes first) then you'll automatically convert to $79/year.

According to Amazon [amazon.com]:

I have never heard of Amazon requesting documentation if you register with a .EDU address. So, go for it!

There may be hope. I cancelled my membership just before it expired.

A few weeks later when making a purchase, the student discount was offered to me again. No documentation requested, just a quick sign up and then on to my purchase.

Guess they missed me. Cool
