6/12/11 9:40pm PST - It allowed me to cancel and re-up, however few hours later I log in and this is the message I get "Important Message
Your membership has been cancelled." Also 2-day shipping doesn't show up on the right and I don't have the "prime" logo anymore.

Worked for me on 5/27/11

If you CALL Amazon to CANCEL, YOU CANNOT RE-SIGN UP using the same e-mail.

For Alumni emails simply capitalize your email so that "alum" is not included: [email protected] => [email protected]

australia emails don't work

Bolivia emails dont work

Don't try to click on the confirmation link using a Blackberry device. You will get a message from Amazon saying the confirmation link was not valid if click on the link through your Blackberry

To all those getting an error when trying to re-subscribe, make sure you use Internet Explorer, it seems theres an issue with non-IE browsers.

I used google chrome as I don't have IE installed
Firefox worked great for canceling and renewing Amazon student.

FYI - I have an Amazon Prime account through my daughter who is a college student. She cancelled her account then signed up again. It automatically extended my Prime account until 2/28/2012 also Smilie

you will not received the e-mail confirmation until your previous entered personal information matching with your current entered personal information. It happend to me just now. I hope this would help.

Gonzo380 - Anyone that was previously an Amazon Student Prime member that cancelled but could not re-register for it, try finding your original email when you first signed up for it in your .edu account and click on the verification link. Worked for me.

In a follow-up to Gonzo380's suggestion, I didn't even wait for Amazon to send a new confirmation link. After submitting my .edu email address, I immediately used the confirmation link from the time I signed up previously. Worked perfectly. - Gizmotoy

If you accidentally cancelled and could not re-register for it and you do not have your original confirmation email. You can submit a request directly to amazon and they will re-enable your prime account starting from today for an additional year! - dsp9753

If you're using rockmelt and use autofill to fill in your e-mail address and state, don't use autofill - put in your e-mail address and state manually. Otherwise the list of schools doesn't pop up and an error occurs. -adidabiking

*If you use the alumni.school.edu and don't receive the email instantly, just click on the link requesting another copy and it will be sent over "IMMEDIATELY", then click on link and you are gooood - llfe

-- Works fine in Chrome, browsers aren't the issue anymore. Canceled membership, logged into australia.edu, used old email link, signed me back up right away. 2012 exp.

3/4/2011 UPDATE: I have a different *.edu account & successfully signed up very early this morning (3/4/2011). LINKY [amazon.com]

I had to cancel old student membership and sign up for a NEW account using different caps on the .edu e-mail address... if you only cancel your student membership and reapply without signing up for a NEW Amazon account your PRIME membership does NOT renew, only student membership does. Your Amazon Prime Membership Membership dates: March 5, 2011 - March 5, 2012

(Gigahertz21) - I can confirm the above, if you cancel your current membership and try to extend Amazon student prime for another year using the SAME Amazon account, it will not work. The only way to try and get another free year of Amazon prime on the SAME Amazon account is to talk to a CS Rep. using the right language and they might do it. Go to page 116 of this thread and read the replies for some info on how to do it. If you don't want to bother talking/lying to a CS Rep. then just create a new Amazon account and then it's trouble free.

6/12/11: also confirm still working (same .edu/same account) - jeremym
7/4/11: worked for me to sign up new. yay for lifetime email forwarding from my undergrad and grad school.

Did you resigned on AMZN [amazon.com] for the student prime just right now again after canceling the membership or just click the initial activation link from last year?

Can anybody can confirm this?

I cancelled and then clicked my original activation link.

I didn't find it anywhere why? I took the risk and figured it out.
Just curious as to how you knew about this. If you took a guess, then:

–how did you figure it out?
–that must mean there is no way we'll get that deal again.

If they come up w/a promotion like last July's, then that would be the time to try it, I guess. Please help clear the fog for me, so I can set my expectations on whether I'll get it again.

Thanks!!!

Can you add users/share the prime membership? Under my "Manage Your Prime Account" link I don't see any way to do so.

how did you manage to get 7 years of prime? Nice... care to give details?
thanks
With all the different get free prime initiatives posted over the years other than Student we've had the 3 month (one of which I myself posted sometime ago) & 1 year offerings which having multiple Amazon accounts and virtual credit cards lends itself to.

No, if you are using Amazon Student Prime. This is from Amazon [amazon.com]:
Quote from Amazon.com :
Customers who receive their Amazon Prime shipping benefits through Amazon Student will not be able to share their benefits with additional people. Customers who receive their Amazon Prime shipping benefits through Amazon Mom can share their benefits with 1 person within or outside of their household. All existing shared household members will continue to receive shipping benefits if the primary member switches to the Amazon Prime shipping benefits offered by one of these programs, however, the primary member will not be able to add or change shared household members if they move to one of these programs.

They've changed their policy / web site some time after Student Prime was available, so you can't invite like you used to now. If you want to add, you'd have to pay to get the regular prime, invite, cancel immediately, then sign up for Student again. I'm not sure if the last part will still work.

Okay this deal is dead but is there a way to cancel student prime in July or it's automatically cancelled at that time? I don't want it auto-renewed.

Not sure what you mean, it seems pretty clear. The OP just wanted to see if he canceled his prime membership and then signed back up would it restart the membership. There's no way to know if they'll offer the option to cancel the membership again or if they'll just renew the memberships when they expire.

It's for parents and caregivers of a child. Yeah, it initially gives you 3 months of Prime free with ways to extend it a month at a time if you buy products in their babies department. Here's a link for ya.

https://slickdeals.net/forums/showthread.php?sduid=32212&t=2224933

Enjoy!
I have Amazon Mom prime and I find lots of stuff in the baby department that isn't for babies. For example, I bought a pair of dance shoes for zumba and it qualified because for some reason it was listed in the baby department.

Then just the other day I found an entertainment center I wanted and guess what, it was listed in the baby department. Just that purchase qualified me for another 7 months of prime for free. I maxed out my free months with just a couple of purchases that had nothing to do with baby stuff.

Do they actually verify anything other than email? I know some colleges have more than one domains for email, like uiuc.edu and Illinois.edu points to the same email I think
