I had a message waiting for me on FB that I was one of 11 winners that won the Jolly Time Prize Pack! Whee It didn't say what it was but I am sure it isn't a million dollars, to bad that would have been nice. We do eat lots of popcorn over here. I am the popcorn and koolaid (really crystal light lol) mom in the neighborhood and always make up several batches of both for all the kids who come over to play after school. We go through a tun! Not as much during the winter, time to stock up, so freaking cold no kids are out playing now.

I think I want in on the K-cup train, I'd like to try some different flavors. I'm excited to get my order tomorrow that has Butter Toffee and Wolfgang Puck's Blend. Too bad Fedex probably won't bring it before I wake up, so I'll have to have my regular for my wake up cup.
My butter toffee arrived just now. I'm drinking some as I type. It is yummy

It has been over a year now that our old renter Steven disappeared and he is still missing. So sad for his family to go through their second Christmas with out him. I do think of him often and wish there was some kind of resolution, especially for his family. I do not understand how famlies of the missing deal with it for so long, never ending wondering and devastation that they are not there day after day and year after year. Frown
Wave Good to see you around these parts.

I think about your renter all the time. So bizarre. I feel so sad for his family.

Thanks for this info. I wonder if homeschoolers are considered "star teachers".
I'm no help with Office Depot, but I have been a Teacher's Rewards member for many years at Staples. I also have one for B. Dalton, now owned by Barnes & Noble. It's been a whole lotta years, but I don't recall that it was any big deal to get them. I think one or maybe both asked for a copy of the form I had to file with the state, since in Iowa we do have to file one.

An interesting little tidbit of worthless information -- B. Dalton was started by Dayton Dept. Store. Dayton Dept. Store is who started Target. I learned that little bit-o-info from the CNBC show last week.

The two drawers in the bathroom are clean out and tidy. How in the heck did I manage to kill an HOUR cleaning out two little drawers that weren't too terrible to begin with? My sheets are washed and dried. Now, I need to remake the bed, figure out supper and get something out, and eat something for brunch. Oh, yeah, and vacuum. Dog (or dogs) got into the trash and there are coffee grounds and crumbs all over my kitchen carpet. My life is just so exciting I don't know how I do it. Snoring2

Our high is supposed to 8 all this week. Cold

Nook works with plain text (.txt), .pdf, .epub and eReader (.pdb). Does that make sense? I'm new to the Reader world... Confused

Just in case anyone else was wondering what 5 spices were included in "5 Spice [wikipedia.org]".

I really need to read Midnight Sun... Guess I know what I'll be doing tonight. Wink
laugh out loud Yes it makes sense to me. Ok I can try to email them to you or maybe send them via google docs. I have a Sony eReader and it uses pdf, txt, or epub. PM me your email (preferably gmail in case I need to use docs) and I will send it along! Smilie

I found the 5 spice at my T for $2.39 or so. Not bad and I didn't have to make an extra stop Whee

YES!! Midnight Sun is the best so far! I wish she would finish it!

Team Edward all the way! I've read all the books and I love them. I want to read them again but I'm not sure that i want to "open that can of worms"! I love reading books, i always have and this is the 1st set of books that I've read that put me in a weird funk. It's like they put me into this depressed state of mind. I've read midnight sun and I really wish she would finish it. Edward gives so much more detail when he's telling the story. You would think with so many people wanting her to finish it she would but I dont think she ever will. Once I pick one of the books up i cant stop reading it until I'm done..i will pause to do stuff like go potty and grab a drink but other than that leave me alone when I'm reading it..lol I dont think that Jacob is cute in the movie or in real life. Now Edward in the movie yes but in real life no.
Have any of you read her other book "The Host" ? It was a very good book, it was really hard to get into at first but once i got a couple of chapters in it was good.
I have The Host for my reader, but have not read it yet. My coworker told me the same thing, it was slow at first, but then got really good! I keep meaning to read it, but then someone suggested another series for me to read. I am currently reading The Vampire Huntress Legends series [vampire-huntress.com] and it is ok. Some of the parts are steamy and require my hubby and a locked door Woot, but others are slow! I am one that will usually read a whole series though, even if I only sorta like the series. Some just get better with time. I am currently on the 4th book of 12.

I started ready The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo and just couldn't get into it, I hear the same, if you can get past the first part... I think I might rather read the Twilight series over again. lol Glad you are all feeling better now. Man whatever that is going around is brutal, like the worst cold and flu all rolled into one.
I REALLY liked this series, but I saw the first movie before I started reading it, so it was easier to get into! The story gets better and better as it goes on! Very graphic in some parts though, so be warned!

I heart this series too! I saw the movie after reading all 3 and it made me want to read them again...I remember it took a long time to get into the 1st one...maybe 50 pages or so, but after about pg 100, I had already ordered the next 2 books.

So DH starts his new job tomorrow. I don't know if you remember me posting before Xmas about DH accepting a job and then the company ultimately changing the terms of his agreement for him to move to another city in FL? Well, he chose to stay with his same restaurant and move down here to work in the Tampa location. Well, 2 days after being in FL he got a call from his headhunter for another restaurant. He had a final interview with them on January 6 and they offered him the job the next day! He accepted the MUCH better offer and he had training yesterday and tomorrow is his official first day! I know he is really excited. He has been off from work since January 1 and has luckily been able to use accumulated vacation time (since he just gave his notice) to be off from work for almost 3 weeks.

We had our code compliance inspection today and if we passed, our property manager has tenants waiting to move in. I know some of you said you had renters...I am assuming most of you interact with your tenants, meaning they pay the rent directly to you?

I have The Host on my list to read someday. My hairdresser loved it, but just the synopsis doesn't draw me in to rush and begin it.

I remember telling you about the Vampire Huntress series, and you saying that you had them ready to read. I read the first book and didn't like it, but heard they get better, so I began the second book. That was a few months ago, and though better, it's my back up book. It just sits there and I'm reading 3 other books and not even getting to it. I won't give it up though, I still hope to be drawn into it when I give it some time.

The 6th book in the Mercy Thompson series, River Marked, will be out in March. That's the one by a local author and I'm looking forward to that one.

laugh out loud I couldn't remember who had recommended it to me. I thought it was Sky, but she told me it wasn't her! So Thanks to you! They get steamier as you go, well that's what I have seen so far. Wink I started with her "Crimson Moon" series (which I had heard weren't as good, but I LOVED them) and I really liked them. She wrote this series after she wrote the majority of the "Vampire Huntress" one, so I know she gets better the more she writes in this genre.

I FREAKING LOVE the Mercy Thompson series!!! worship I have LOVED every book in that series! I can't wait for the new one! I have a few new ones out (in different series that I read) in the next coming months!

Oh, I agree with the others about The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, it does take a while to get into the first book. Please if you begin to read it, don't give up! It's a complex story with a lot of characters, and I think it took me over 100 pages to begin to want to not put it down. Then I read them Twilight style fast after that! The movies are great too, still waiting on the last one to be released, but the movies only cover a fraction of details from the book. It's too bad Stieg Larsson died, I'd like to see what else he would have written. In case anyone didn't know, all 3 books were all published posthumously, and supposedly he planned for a series of about 10. I wonder what Lisbeth Salander would have been up to?!?

ooh, i can finally get in on the book convo!

get my books from the library so i don't necessarily read in order or everything by the author. read maybe half or more of her highlander series drool, so started on the fever series when i saw it at the library. the fever series is much darker and not romance at all so i didn't *enjoy* it as much as the highlander books. it's more like a page turner where i just had to keep reading to find out what happens next. and when you get to the end of the book you are just dying to read the next! i got so sucked in i even checked out her website and some of the forumsTeehee. some of those people are so into it like teenagers, somebody made the flashlight headgear and it went on tour. Crazy

it's hard when you have to wait almost a yr for the release of the next book. and you don't know when the library is going to get it. plus, i don't go to the library that often b/c when i do and i take out a stack of books, my life just comes to a halt until i finish them. so just like food i try to avoid too much temptation.

so i was waiting for i think book 3 to come out, saw it was available online thru the library and i could download it for free if i had a reader, but i've been lazy about it. just checked her website and now can't remember if i ever read book 3, faefever, or not, but now you say the end of dreamfever was so good i hear a giant sucking sound! (runs to get library card to access books online!) good thing xmas clearance and toy clearance are over w/ and i have a break to do other things besides go to target every day laugh out loud! now i must find these books and find out what's been going on!!!

don't know whether you've ever watched the tv show ghost whisperer (tear jerker) w/ jennifer love hewitt or not, but i feel the last season incorporated the *shadows* concept into their story. don't know if they were plagiarizing or maybe testing to see public reaction b/c i think i read on her website this series was opted to make a movie. i would go see it just to see how it compared to the books.

I knew DH's job changed the terms but I didn't know about the better offer! That is awesome news, this move has ended up really working out for you guys and all the shopping, you are so lucky to finally have a Publix!! I am jelous! I did want to go with a property management to rent our house for us but DH wanted to do it himself. So he does talk to our tenants, a few times a month, more if needed. Since we live about 4 hours away he usually has them do a direct deposit. It is a headache and we have had some crazy renters, one that dissapeared, and a handfull of awesome ones. Still going to court with two of the crazy ones on and off trying to collect and we have already won our cases against them. Over all I think renting sucks. I wish we could just sell but with the market crash we are so upside down we are kinda stuck unless we just want to let the house to into foreclouser. Dontknow Now that there is a new and huge airport opening and the town keeps growing things will pick up and the house will gain back some value we hope.

Wave Good to see you around these parts.

I think about your renter all the time. So bizarre. I feel so sad for his family.
Thanks good to see you too. I agree so very bizarre. I can't understand how he just vanished without a trace right out of a Henderson neighborhood. I mean he is on a homeowners survelliance walking down the street and out of site and then that is it. His car never moved and he was never heard from or seen again. Dontknow Sometimes I think he still has to be in that neighborhood somewhere, maybe someone locked him in their basement or something. Frown
If he is still alive and dissapeared on purpose I hope he is happy but if he is that is a terrible thing to do to your family left behind. If it was my child I would never stop looking ever.

Best wishes to you husband!

We don't use a property manager and we live across the state from our rental house. Our renter just deposits it in our bank account. Our bank is also on that side of the state.

How crazy is that, we have lived away from there for almost 14 years, we have no intention of moving back there, yet we still bank there.
