Maybe T-Mobile's 3G/4G network requires the 1700 band in many areas, which means only 2G / EDGE speeds will work. But some areas are starting to get 3G on the 1900 band: http://www.phonearena.com/news/T-Mobile-turns-on-3G-coverage-for-unlocked-Apple-iPhone-models-in-some-areas_id24870

Yes Use any handset with 4G in the name if you are unsure. 3G handsets can be purchased on tmobile.com/prepaid like the Optimus T.

YMMV... the T-mobile store will give you a card and activation kit for free. Or just buy online, currently on sale for only $0.99.

Buy any Tmobile prepaid phone at a retailer ~$20 and activate online. Buy a SIM card from Tmobile.com for $8.

Also anyone with the answer, which wireless refills should i get in order to get this plan?
http://www.callingmart
It says 1500 talk/text and 30 MB data so that's making me question myself, if i just buy that $30 and load it i should be able to still get my unlimited plan right?
I'm currently using this plan Nokia 710, and happy with battery life after 18 months with Motorola Atrix... seems comparable. There are a lot of Nokia 710's available right now on craigslist/ebay as folks are upgrading to WP8.

I first got the $30 WM plan when I got a Samsung Exhibit II. It was not the best quality at all. Groove IP was literaly echoing and huge delays and distorting words while Talkatone was less terrible but it wasn't great. (A few of my friends told me they would rather text me because my cell phone reception always seemed to be bad) I ended up using my regular minutes because @ 10 cents a minute, I don't mind going over my my monthly limit with the plan.
However, I bit the bullet and bought the Nexus 4 during its launch and I have to say... the quality on Talkatone is borderline amazing. I now have a 30 minute convo and things might get distorted 1-2x in that timeframe. Other than that, no one can tell that it is VOIP.
So in closing.... if your calls are terrible, it may be your phone as opposed to the app...
I just called the 616 number, and tell them that I want to switch both lines over to the 30 prepaid plan, the CSR submitted the request, and said within 72 hours, my phone line will stop working and I will received a text message asking me to call the prepaid department, which then I can choose whatever prepaid plan I want and add money to my account. Hope it works out...will keep you guys update.

I went through the same process, didn't even need to swap sim card.

I am out of contract and think move to this plan. but keep my original T-Moblie #
what should I do? pls advise if u have experience, that will be greatly appreciated~
1. go to Walmart to get this plan. will walmart give me a new simcard with new #?
if not
2. I might need to buy an activation kit (with new sim) to activate via my original T-Mobile phone
---> if I got some activation kit from t-mobile like recent Free simcard offer, can I use it to save little buck?
3. after activation via new simcard kit, call T-Mobile to port my old # to this new # plan? then new # will be no longer available after porting finish?
4. some ppl above said porting take less than 1 days, some said more than 1~2 week...so Does it mean I have chance to loss of use my old # for a long time
pls help or share your valuable experience
great thanks~

Received a text message this morning, but they switch me over to the 1500 minutes and text plan, so I had to call, and the CSR had to talked to a supervisor, but he was able to change the plan for me, with the same sim card, and same old phone number, everything went smoothly....
