No, I never ported a number to Tmobile. Signed up for prepaid with them about 6 years ago with a brand new number.

I am not sure how that's relevant to this particular issue, however. The way this program is designed is to attract new customers only. Existing prepaid Tmobile customers are, by default, excluded. What some people, myself included, have been able to accomplish is to change their existing prepaid service (from either PAYG or Monthly 4G) to this plan. It seems like when one is lucky enough to get a helpful CSR, the 'limitation' imposed by the plan ("new activation only") appears no longer relevant.

Close to 5500 posts but not a single mention of using asterisk or piaf to make free VoIP calls.

If you want the best VoIP quality over 3g, no app can beat setting up your own asterisk server and use G729 codec. Not to mention, it's free.

He forgot to mention is free for a year and common users don't have the patience to go this far. I'm doing a couple of arduino projects this semester and I feel like this is a chore.

To many pages to read through, on an iPhone I guess there is no way around the edge speeds if no 1900 3g in your area?

I think I asked this before but can't find it... if you get a 4g phone and don't get 4g does it revert to edge or 3g? Wife and I have been OK with our little optimus V's but sprint network is not great in our area...

If worthwhile, are there any recommendations for cheap 4gphones? I mean real cheap like sub 150-200 for both combined?

It will drop to 3g or whatever your area supports. You can go to Tmobile.com to look at the coverage map.

Best phone cost wise is the LG L9 for $200

I got my AT & T Iphone 4 unlocked and i opted the $30 plan with 100 minutes talk time ,unlimited data and message.However the speed i'm getting is EDGE,although 3G/4G coverage is in my area, Does Iphone 4 does not support 3G band used by Tmobile ?

ALso does Iphone 4S or 5 unlocked mobile supports 3G on T mobile network ? Any one tried ?
