Maybe T-Mobile's 3G/4G network requires the 1700 band in many areas, which means only 2G / EDGE speeds will work. But some areas are starting to get 3G on the 1900 band: http://www.phonearena.com/news/T-Mobile-turns-on-3G-coverage-for-unlocked-Apple-iPhone-models-in-some-areas_id24870

I get about roughly the same on my Nexus.
Barring the slow speeds though, it's actually okay for basic web browsing. I had to use the iPhone 3GS for the past 2-3 days and driving around hopped back/fourth between 3G and EDGE about half the time (very impressed that T-Mobile has refarmed a lot of areas with 1900Mhz HSPA+ though), and used it for navigation with Google Maps and some web browsing. Slow, but unlike when I was on Sprint's lame excuse of a 3G network, at least I can actually use the data service on it.
And T-Mobile (Telekom Deutschland) is supposed to be the best and most expensive network in Germany (they are the Verizon of Germany), yet just huge huge areas of EDGE only. And then I realized why a lot of German people still used those old GPS units in their cars instead of their iPhones or smartphones..because their mobile networks suck ass.
Already tested it for a month. I never use 5 GB of data anyway. Having 5+ Mbps HSPA 90% of the time and edge 10% of the time is loads better than 500 Kbps EVDO most of the time.

Come on and join us. I dropped SERO as my bill doubled from $30 to almost $60 a month after the bullsh*t of having to upgrade to the $40 plan to get an Android phone, and then another $10 "Premium data" fee.
Are they still charging that crap fee btw? Complete insult to charge that fee as there is nothing "premium" about Sprint's data network, at all.

Now I am on prepaid but I had no idea a 2011 nokia phone would be so slow at loading pages.

I'm also in a first round market for LTE deployment, and as of about a month ago, I got LTE in about 5 spots and I've traveled pretty extensively in the area. I more dreaded getting LTE than anything since it often just stubbornly held onto an unusably weak LTE signal, making data just not work. On EVDO, I was outside downtown in a major city and it took 10 minutes to download a 2 MB app. :|
I've heard that where Sprint has deployed LTE speeds are still around 7-10Mbps to which I just laugh as I consistently get better than that on T-Mobile's HSPA+. Can't wait until they deploy LTE nationwide.
And in many areas, they just deployed LTE without upgrading the backhaul (what I was saying earlier about their overloaded network), so you only see like 2Mbps down, which isn't even 3G speeds.
Softbank needs to finish buying Sprint and just invest whatever hundred billion yen they have, to fix Sprint. They are the only company that I think that can fix Sprint as they took over a company (Vodafone KK. Vodafone is one of the largest mobile providers in the world. They own almost 50% of Verizon Wireless if that says anything) from dead last and bleeding customers in Japan, to like #3 in like 4 years.

Only the T-Mobile version has support for it.
