Family Dollar has jumper cables for 6 bucks. Are they probably crap?

for 6 bucks, give crap to everyone on your christmas list! I guess it's probably better than nothing, but not much better.

I highly recommend a set sold at Sears for $22.99 ( 4 gauge cable and 20 feet long) Your lighter gauge jumper cables (10 gauge) can get very hot when jumping another battery. The extra lenght of these can be very handy as well. SEARS always has a set of these heavy duty cables on sale around Christmas . I have purchased three sets. They make great gifts for young drivers.

Ehh... jumper cables are one of those things you don't want to get at the dollar store. Like fire extinguishers and fire alarms.

It's pretty hard to fark up jumper cables. Give it a shot, but only while wearing rubber boots.

If you are like most people you will be careless with your cables and at six bucks you won't be to upset when your family member/friend/hot blonde on roadside doesn't return them.
Personally I have the Craftsman in a carry case but then I am a car professional and use them often and never loan them out.
Those $6 cables will jump many dead vehicles before they succumb to overheated wires breaking.

here are my two cents worth.
make sure that the wires are COPPER and not aluminum.
also make sure that they are thicker copper wires...im told that the skinny ones maynot make a good connection...you can find REAL jumper cables at Sears, Kragen/oreillys, pep boys, autozone or any place that sells automotive products and expect to pay at least 15 dollars and probably 20 something which is probably not unreasonable.
