***Edit*** Looks like $145.99 and at quick glance wanted my credit card info before allowing me to apply any coupon codes anywhere.... Odd I went through again this time using the banner add and it let me put in the promo code before asking for CC info.

Looks like I am in for one!

Shipping was ridiculously quick, the heater looks much nicer than all others I have and the wood looks solid enough. Remote is simple just like the settings for the front panel. I have not had a chance to test it in full service yet as we are having seasonably mild weather atm although it is suppose to get cold this week. ATM it feels like I got a good deal lol... time will tell.

Just a note about this type of heater. It's a generic Chinese heater that lots of companies rebrand. I was given a slightly older model of this (different front panel) as a gift, and it has turned out to be one of those gifts that I wish I was never given. Something's wrong with the control board causing it to not regulate the temperature properly, instead it turns on and off at random times with no warning.

Now you would think I would just return it and get another one right? Unfortunately I have to pay return shipping. This thing is large and heavy and costs a small fortune to ship back. So there's no point.

Now as far as the advantages of infrared heaters themselves, infrared technology is extremely efficient for certain heating situations. What makes them efficient is the fact that you can point the infrared tubes at an object (such as a person) and they will heat the object without heating the air in between. So they're not technically more efficient than any other electric heater, they just avoid losing heat to the air so that more of the heat makes it to the object you're trying to keep warm. This is why you frequently see infrared heaters in restaurants that have outdoor patios.

So is this heater good for that purpose? No. The infrared element is inside the unit, and it uses the element to heat the air through a heat exchanger, which it circulates with a fan. Heating the air nullifies the efficiency gains of using an infrared heater, making this a fairly pointless device. Any basic electric heater would do the same thing for a fraction of the price.

As a comparison to this heater, I have a true infrared heater I bought at WalMart on spring clearance for $10. Because the elements are exposed on the front, you can point it at an object and use it as a true infrared heater, so it works perfectly and is incredibly efficient.

In comparison, this heater costs $100 on sale (the person that bought it for me paid $200), is no more efficient than any other electric heater because it heats the air with it's infrared element, and is extremely unreliable. My opinion then is that this is a useless rebranded Chinese product that is made to look flashy and include buzzwords to appeal to people who don't know how infrared is supposed to work.
