SEARS - 20% OFF all Die Hard Automotive Batteries + Free in-store pickup

+5 Deal Score
100,810 Views
Sears.com offers 20% off DieHard Automotive Batteries [sears.com] as part of their deal of the day.
*Must add to cart to see discounted price

You can also get another $5 off using coupon code SEARS2013 or VALPAK5

In-store pickup is free. Note you must pickup at the Auto Department or Automotive Center, not the regular Merchandise Pick-up area.

Installation is usually extra if you don't have the time or the tools to do it yourself.

This is a great deal for their regular DieHard Gold line, which comes with a fairly standard 3 year warranty, with 100-month pro-rated replacement for under $100 for most sizes.

But it's a REALLY good deal for their top-of-the line DieHard Platinum series batteries, which are in fact rebadged, grey-container AGM Odyssey batteries made in the USA by EnerSys. The Odyssey batteries go for $300-400 or so for the exact same battery with the exact same internals. AGM means absorbed glass mat, which basically means the battery is a "dry cell" and won't leak acid, even if you break open the battery with a sledge hammer, or shoot it with an elephant gun. You also will never have to clean the battery terminals, as AGM batteries don't corrode them. The Platinum line comes with an unheard of 4-year full replacement warranty, with 100-month prorated coverage.

If you want AGM but don't want to pay the steep price of the Platinum, they do make a DieHard Advanced Gold Battery in some limited sizes, for around $100-150, which is between the regular lead-acid Gold and AGM Platinum in price. Availability of this Advanced Gold seems rather limited, probably only in larger stores or auto centers.

You can usually buy online if you know the Group size you need (use the battery selector link below), and knock another $5 off using the SEARS2012, SEARS2013, or VALPAK5 $5 off $50 code (plus save the hassle of debating with the salesperson over what vehicle it's for), or buy in-store if you have a bigger discount coupon.

How often do you do this to your batteries.

That sucks, for some reason they don't even have one for my Audi, Napa, CarQuest, AutoZone and recently Advance all list one.

I can get the Autocraft Gold battery with more CCA for the same price after coupons. 425 cca is pretty weak in my civic. Plus they will install it for you, which isn't a big deal, but some people prefer not to mess with those things.

Probably going to die since it can't keep a charge around 12.8 volts.

Best thing to do is go to your local auto shop, like Auto Zone, Advance Auto, etc., most offer tools like a battery load tester, or if you have another ride, take the battery out and they will bench test it, usually no charge.

so what do i need to look for in the test?

why does it die but is able to start again after being jumped? will it soon be un-jumpable? thanks for the help. i've been waiting for a deal on batteries but they don't seem to get much better than this.

I've a Platinum 65 and do occasionally need to clean the terminals with a can of Coke, but just figured out silicone spray would eliminate cleaning permanently
