First of all, you will need a CVS ExtraCare card. This is obtained easily at any store at the register. Some will ask you to fill out the form then and there, others will just give you the card and ask you to return the form later.
Once you have the card, you can now start CVSing
The biggest thing to understand is that CVS uses a promotional program called "ExtraCare Bucks" (commonly abbreviated as ECBs.) These print out on your receipt immediately once you purchase an item offering them; almost like an instant-rebate you get at the register. You can turn around and use them anytime on almost anything in the store, except for alcohol, cigarettes, and gift cards.
Often, CVS advertises items as "Free after ECB" – For example, throughout the month of November, CVS has Crest Pro Health Whitening Toothpaste in 4.2 oz size, for free after ECB. The cost is $3.49, but you get $3.49 back instantly on your receipt. The best part is that there are often coupons available that can actually help you earn money… like for the above toothpaste, there are $1 off coupons available, meaning the item would be $2.49, but you get $3.49 in ECBs back. The limit on this toothpaste for this month is 2. So if you wanted to start off small to get into CVSing, the thing to do would be to buy one toothpaste in the first transaction (and use a coupon if you have one, so that you either pay $3.49 or $2.49 in cash), then use the $3.49 ECBs you get back from that first transaction to pay for the second tube of toothpaste, and again, receive $3.49 more in ECBs.
The trick now is to roll your ECBs so that you rarely pay more than maybe a dollar or two in tax on transactions, instead using your ECBs from previous transactions… then earning more to keep doing the same. It's a cycle (and a game/addiction to some, lol.)

I am going to murder my child...and I may enjoy it. Nicholas...ugh. He is in gifted and talented programs...he takes high school classes in math, etc. Last 9 weeks, his grades were ok, but not great. He had a C in Algebra, which I thought, "ok, it's a new concept to him, and it's above his grade level."
I get his mid-term today. C in TWO reading classes (seriously? TWO?) and some other class that is similar to reading..I don't get what it is. He also has an F in SOCIAL STUDIES. He is giving me the "I don't get it" crap. He tells me if he thinks he will get a low grade, he just wasn't turning in his work.
He told me about the SS grade that the teacher said he didn't have all of his work in, and when he asked about what he needed to do, the teacher just told him to "do better from now on".
He said on his vocabulary test the other day, he thought he did good, and when he got it back he missed 16 out of 25. It was something about find the word and correct it, or something. I don't understand what he's saying.
All he wants to do is play video games and use his computer. I told him until Christmas break, his phone doesn't leave the desk in the living room unless he is going somewhere other than school. It is not to be in his room. He has 30 minutes of video games OR computer on school days. I feel horrible, because he's upset, but I KNOW he isn't doing what he should be.
I guess what makes me feel bad is that I really don't know if he DOESN'T get it. Like, when I was in high school, I didn't get Algebra. Never did. Flunked it twice. I had to take basic math courses just to get math credits because I see numbers and they look like foreign objects to me. But, come on...FOUR classes? Granted..3 are pretty much the same damn courses, but still.
He said he can't study Social Studies because they don't even have a text book. I mean, WTF? No book? He said he understands when the teacher says it, but he forgets it by the test.
Nick has ADHD..we have not medicated him since 4th grade. I think he can concentrate enough now. I mean, he was doing fine up until this year. Fantastic grades. I don't *think* it's that. His science and math grades are fine. He's just Mr 8th grade with a phone and a computer now. It's all about the girls and everything. I really think it's more that than anything.
I don't know what to do. Robert's going to hit the roof because all he will see is a bad grade (or 4) and he won't care why, then I am going to have to battle him, too. I'm at a loss, and it makes me feel like a failure.
