Pretty huge YMMV imo. You have to have a "local" microcenter for them to even technically consider it:
"At the time of sale, we price match all local retail competitors (including their online prices) and we price match products shipped from and sold by these major online retailers: Amazon.com, Bhphotovideo.com, Crutchfield.com, Dell.com, HP.com, Newegg.com, and TigerDirect.com."
Even then, at many locations I tried the item wasn't in stock, which is also a no-go.
"Our Price Match Guarantee does not cover out of stock items"
Unless you live in a 25 mile radius to a MC that has this in stock, you WILL be shot down. Don't waste your time unless you have plenty of it. I don't understand why this is posted again!
If you price match it anywhere, office depot is probably your best bet. Staples screwed me over a couple years ago, as I PM'ed an item in store, they ordered it on their website, charged my debit card, item went out of stock, and then they took literally 3-4 months, probably 6+ calls to staples customer service, and a dispute to get a refund. For whatever reason the dispute failed, and instead of refunding my debit card, staples ended up sending me a check despite me demanding that they refund my debit card. Horrible horrible experience.
Just got off the phone with office depot customer service, apparently they don't PM technology based stuff anymore.
Guess Best Buy is the only viable option. They do have an option to PM microcenter, and many other stores, as I've seen it on their register screen in the past (along with many other stores).
I tried this..almost got away with it, but the best buy rep noticed it was out of stock at all stores and he couldn't price match the microcenter web store because it was in store pickup only. Ended up just getting it refurbished through Newegg for $200 and it looks brand new.

Why does it matter to these big box retailers if the Microcenter store has the item in stock or not. If they did have the item, why the fark wouldn't I just go to the microcenter store and buy it...

can a store price match it if they (Staples for example ) only have it for online only ?
