i am an iphone user, but thumbs up for the great price and flagship specs. All flagships should be this price.
flagship prices will drop unless they offer more innovation/value.

smartphones are becoming more of a commodity and 99% of people will be perfectly fine with a midrange android phone that is under 300 dollars.
by "everyone" you mean the 4-legged creature whose name starts with an S and to whom i can resell for $2K? oh yea. i am sure SDer's will post a gazillion pre-order threads for those.

Which credit card has the cell phone price protection? Does Citi Price Rewind work?

except everyone is expecting iPhone 10th anniversary edition (iPhone 8, the iPhone, whatever it is called) will be priced at $1k to start and I guarantee it will be sold out very quickly and become the GIFT to own or show off this holiday season.

Silly that they run an online store and still manage to charge taxes for most states.

Great price for a flagship device. Much better option than a Galaxy s8/s8+ IMO. Similar hardware and according to DXOMarkit has the best camera on a cell phone.

HTC phones also normally have good resale value. HTC 10 s are still sold above 350$ even after a year.

Quote from WhosUrBuddiee :
As long as people keep paying flagship $1k prices, prices will never drop. Apple has absoultly zero incentive to drop price, as their sales increase every year with very little innovation. All accounts actually show Apple to be releasing a 3rd premium model this year, which will drive flagship prices even higher. As long as Apple prices stay high, Apple competitor flagships will stay high. Look at Google, who started with affordable phones and quickly became just as expensive as all the other flagships.

Your 99% claim is completely bs as well. Almost no one actually wants a midrange phone. The only people with midrange phones are those who settle because they cannot afford the flagship they really want.
Um, you say the 99% claim is BS, but then you go to say "almost no one" well, there you are pretty much making the same claim as well.

Plenty of people out there are happy with a mid-range phone. My grandma doesn't need or want an iPhone or a S8. Believe it or not there are millions of people in the just the US who think the phone prices are absurd and are happy with phones in the mid-range.

Not to mention there are a few billion other people on the planet you are forgetting.. Part of them are fine with phones in this range that are affordable. For them and what they have access to, a mid-range phone may be their S8. Not everyone needs, wants or can afford something fast. You have to look beyond the United States. A phone like this will probably do very well in India or other international markets.

Seems like a nice phone. Don't think I'll be getting it though. I agree with an earlier post that cell phones nowadays are more or less commodities. I am running a Motorola G4 plus and I love it - got it for $230 on black Friday. Honestly don't see your need for a $700 flagship unless it has some truly ground breaking features.

Water resistant and shatter proof in the same phone would be good. Long battery life a must. I think there was a Verizon z force that came out last year that fits this bill. If they release a new version of that, I would definitely jump on that deal.
