Want to switch from Sprint to Verizon, but both our screen are cracked and causing trade-in problems.

To try and sum up the situation, I was with Verizon quite a while ago, but then we switched to tmo to save money. We had all sorts of service and billing issues so we switched to Sprint. They are so much worse, service is terrible, speed is awful, it was just a bad decision. So now we are looking to switch back to Verizon.
Problem is that my wifes iphone has a small crack in the screen. And mine has a huge crack from when it fell on the garage floor onto a rock. My wifes phone is working fine, but mine has been getting worse and worse. But it stated before the fall. Mine is so bad that it'll freeze up often, the screen will black out, and when I get a call, sometimes it takes 5 seconds or more to display who's calling and give me the answer/ignore screen. Sometimes that's so bad I don't even see the screen before it goes to voicemail!
I am so fed up with my phone and I want to switch ASAP. Problem is that because of the crack, V won't give me enough of a trade in to pay the phone off for what I owe Sprint. We each owe about $300 for our phones. So now I feel stuck with a crap phone and don't know what to do.
Any advice or experience out there with this sort of thing? What are my options? Are we just f'ed?

Next time buy a decent cover and glass protector
Welcome back to Verizon. People can talk junk about Verizon all they want, but growing up in the country side Verizon is the only reliable company. And when I sold cell service we had nothing but trouble with ATT and TMobile. Verizon was always easy to set up and never customer complaints (other than price. But if you pay for a service and it doesn't work then I think it's more stupid than paying for expensive service that works).
