128GB Apple iPad Mini 4 WiFi Tablet (various colors) Expired

Huge difference in tablets. I have had both tablets.

Mini 4 is portable, fits drone controller brackets, easier to carry to...where ever you take it.
The Mini 4 feels like ingenuity vs the Hummer/tank - iPad 2017. It is light with better screen, more hard drive space for cheaper then the 32gb.
I can simply walk and check my mail with the Mini 4 in my jeans back pocket.
I don't need a case because it can be 'stored' on my body via pockets..or a purse for a lady.
With the iPad 2017, size will be an issue.
If your a person with the need of screen real estate then the iPad 2017 is for you.
The larger size will be more stronger in frame to protect against bends.

Screen:
The laminated display will be cheaper if you crack the top glass (digitizer). iFixit now sells the Digitizer for about $40. https://www.ifixit.com/Store/iPad/iPad-5-Wi-Fi . So you can heat up the screen edge,suction cup - guitar pick it off, disconnect battery, remove display -disconnect it, clean tape off, replace with new 2 sided tape, reconnect new display, connect battery, turn on /test, press down. Job done.

On the iPad 2017 if I looked at the display I could see a mirror reflection of what's behind me. On the Mini 4, I have to point it to reflect the window then I can see some reflection. So a big difference. Brighter screen on the iPad 2017 if you want it that bright, this Mini 4 is plenty bright. these displays have no coating, no scratch protection. You can feel it when rubbing finger on the screen...it is grippy and draggy. Not like a Samsung display where your finger gliiides. Therefore be very careful, you can micro scratch the display easily.

Battery life:
Honestly I haven't noticed a difference between the two. They are the same chargers. One thing to note, these Apple chargers really suck. Tablet battery power management, when battery is in the middle of a charge that's when the charger really works. Full power V and A are present. During this middle period, you pull out the USB cord from the Apple charger and pinch the metal connection, burn ya fingies. It's hot. I exchanged the iPad 2017 and both of them run hot as described above. Same with the Mini 4.
I don't have another Apple cable, I have noticed this issue with Android charging before and a good cable fixed the issue. Not sure if it is this scenarios fix.

The negatives: CPU and benchmarks are slower then the A9. I have watched my testing Antutu, 3DMark, Geekbench 3 tests. 'The Garden' in Antutu test show no difference between iPad 2017 and Mini 4 (visually). They run smooth. In fact I thought I saw the totem appear sooner in the Antutu garden test, then the iPad 2017 test did.
Playing War Robots, a very HD MMO graphically intensive game, works just as good as the iPad 2017. About the same heating of the tablet noticed, showing shadows and dead robots in the play field. I would probably get longer battery life on the iPad 2917 playing that game then the iPad Mini 4.

Loading times multitasking, when checking my email right now while typing this, clicking the email takes time to appear. 0-1/2 - 1 second. There seems to be a cache issue, a ram cleaning issue? Not sure if I'm saying it correctly. It is not AS snappy as the 'Hummer'. But I am willing to trade the A9 for this that is cheaper and more storage for a max 2 second wait time here and there ...which is rarely. I am on iOS 10.3.1.

If your having doubts, tick tok... today is the last day of the sale, find a bestbuy that has one in stock, find a store that sells the Mini 4 128gb, and get to price matching. You lost the luxury to decide. You can return the Mini 4 but can't buy it $100 off tomorrow!

The iPad 2017 is always $329. And more if you compare 128 vs 128 gb.
Remember, most all movies HD are 4-5gb in size on iTunes.. 5-6 HD movies fills an iPad 32 gb.
If you do want 128 gb and only stay at home, the visual experience in watching a movie with 4:3 black bars across the top and bottom in none zoom mode, will be best on the 9.7" iPad 2017. Since I want to not pay a lot, and wear 'PC glasses' anyway, I rather have 128 gb at less price and have portability to take a slow mo movie outside and be able to take it with me in my pocket...with a better none reflective display. I'm not worried about mind blocking my decision regarding future proofing because in 3 yrs I won't want this anyway.

Now the brain twister,
If I find a Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 on sale, this thing is getting refunded. I gave up a good deal S2 8" @$199 for the iPad 2017 ending up with the iPad Mini 4 for $100 more.
And now I'm hoping to get the S2 for $300? Lol

Google and Samsung together are better then Apple. Android is far advanced in various areas. The Android world consist of more then one name brand (iOS-Apple) therefore you have a vast range of support and choices. As far as support if Google can't help, you have developers that help on a number of forums. From tweaking OS to technical issues.

My recent experience with Apple has been completely and utterly disappointing. Calling Apple and getting Senior Advisors that don't know, and have to wait from 'Engineering' to answer the question...all in the end a 'hot-key' answer..again sending the question (re worded) back to Engineering.. it has been 3 weeks.

It is worthless. Completely worthless.

With most Android, size doesn't matter because of Micro SD cards. (Pervs, don't get excited to comment like 'my wife likes the smaller size' ) although that was funny
Next few weeks, none of these two iPads will be worth a chit. Apple has crafted that disappointment upon every upcoming product event. Hence Air2.

Venting off... this Mini 4 is one amazing tablet!

haha, yea for sure! I really love the mini. I've owned the Mini 1, 2, and now 4 (got in on the applecare deal a few weeks ago). I wanted in specifically because of the talks of discontinuing the Mini lines. I really like the Pro, but boy it is pricey and still the larger form factor. And, personally, I think the new iPad 2017 models are lower quality. Besides all that, I love the form factor of the mini because I use it while traveling and it just seems like the perfect size for being portable and usable.

Finally, my wife really loves the mini size, so I just don't see how Apple will stay out of this 8 inch market. I just don't get how anybody is reasoning that a 5.5 inch iPhone 7 plus (which my wife thinks is too large for a phone) is cramping the mini's style. I think the real reason is the cheap iPad line makes it difficult for Apple to explain why the iPad is cheaper than a Mini. Can't seem to explain its because its lower build quality and the Mini should be compared to the Pro line.

Here's hoping to a mini Pro next year!
