Headlamps are typically highly overated for actual brightness. This seems to to be fine. It also uses aaa's, so those can be replaced later. Actual charging can be done via usb in actual headset or just aaa's to keep on side and replace as needed.

available in blue [amazon.com], red [amazon.com] or yellow [amazon.com] - blue is oos

$9 w/ coupon code OXY1HL02

If it's really IPX6 rated, that's a nice bonus. Its the highest water resistant rating short of waterproof (IPX7 and above). USB + alkaline battery option offers nice flexibility. Color me tempted.

I recently bought the two pack of Coast headlamps and was surprised at how bright they are. I took them camping with the Scouts and they were far brighter than any other headlamp I saw. That said, I may pick one of these up as well...

8.99 seems expensive as you can get those cree flashlights from urlhasbeenblocked or w/e for like under $2. Those things are bright AF!

Yes. I use the red light on my headlamp for reading at night. Doesn't wake up my wife, and saves my night vision.

The point of this headlamp is to free your hands as you hike/BBQ/camp at night. Try setting up a tent with one hand (it ain't easy). Also you really don't want it bright AF to bother other campers or wildlife (brightness is adjustable on this one). Try eating dinner with your headlamp at full brightness, you'll get all the bugs, not to mention other campers will hate you with the light blinding them. I love the ones that come with rechargeable USB cause now I just carry a battery pack for everything (phones, camera, gps watch) in the back country for days or until the battery pack is drained. So this is a really good price unless you plan to make a ghetto headband and strap a flashlight on your head.

The Coast ones will be brighter, if that matters to you. Their spotlight is 405 lumens on high, while this on says it's 250. (High, med, low: 405, 230, 53 vs 250, 110, 40)
