I saw the email for this drop.

Are these planar phones really good? Reviews are mixed fort them.

How do they compare to HIFIMAN HE-400i?

I picked up the T50RP mk3 a year ago when Fostex had their rebate. I feel they are one of the best planar bargaiins under $500 out there.

The sound is fabulous and Head-Fi is full of modification ideas for the mk2 which many feel were used by Fostex for the mk3. Will be interesting to see how the MD units shake out, The only complaint I have is comfort which looks to be addressed in this special MD ear pad design.

I have all 3 mk3s Wink but on the fence w/md mod ! miss mk2 housing ! Rock

My understanding is it's a moded MK2 (looks like nicely done!) and I hope fostex / md done it to the level of MK3 or better (l own all 3 RPs - really good oob!) / I played w/moded mk2 and really liked 'em - but my copy had a crack on one of the cans and trouble w/slider - so Frown I gave it back since mk3 was on the horizon laugh out loud ! MK3 sound really good oob - but - imho, whatever mod I had, did sound better?! Wink
