Outside coverage is great. If I have to rate three carriers I used then I would rate them as per below
VZ: 100 inside building, 100 outside, 100 in rural areas
Tmo: 70 inside building, 95 outside, 80 in rural areas
Sprint: 50 inside buildings, 50 outside, 10 in rural areas
(Please note that Sprint experience is 2.5 years old in Washington DC, but they had LTE working then as well. I would think they improved somewhat since then)

That is my and my families observation. Again, this isnt statistical data but rather one families observations. Take it for what it is
Edit: I talked to Sprint Live Chat and they assured me that I would receive the free service! They also told me what my estimated taxes would be on it. So looks like I'll be moving to Sprint.
