You do not if you have a compatible sim.
Thinking of buying used Verizon iPhone 5C from eBay to bring to Sprint, worth it you think?
Oh... And so they won't say anything that the IMEI is not connected to the number, like it would be on a carrier?
- I have a iPhone 5S that I was using on Sprint -> RingPlus ->Ting -> was currently active on Tello. I used the same sim card throughout and was able to re-use it for this deal.
- I swapped out my Tello device to another phone.
- I signed up for a brand new Google Voice number.
- I did the application online and then called telesales a couple of hours later to ask if I could use the sim card I already had instead. They said yes, and to return the sim card that was already on its way to me by refusing delivery to get a refund.
- While I was on the phone with them, I realized I needed to unlock the GV number to make it portable so I did it and paid $3 while I was waiting. I told Sprint it was a T-Mo account, gave them an old T-Mo account that I had closed in April, and BS'd the pin number (pin number not set up on GV).
- Had telesales go through the rest of the application and reference the online application for info. Signed up for autopay.
- Periodically shut down and tried resetting my PRL info for the next couple of days. My phone finally started working on day 3. Yay!
- I signed up for the AA promo before I started the application and need to figure out if I qualified.
- I'm using my real GV number to forward to this new Sprint (formerly GV) number.
- I'm planning to swap out my phone to a Samsung 8+ next week, so we'll see how that goes.
What about the referral bonus? I assume you can't combine discount programs, but who knows.

My GSM phone is not one of the phones listed on elegible list of phones. But I do have a Sprint Phone available.
This morning wife and I woke up to Roaming, and no data connections.
Texts take forever to go through, and calls are spotty, if they even connect.
Managed to get in touch with CS ("Sorry, you're voice keeps cutting out"- lol, ya... that's why I'm calling) over the phone and they said a cell-tower nearby is needing maintenance. GREAT!
Around the same time, I got a response via twitter from @sprintcare
Great first impression Sprint, really.
Edit- I guess, ideally, this only affects "nearby" and service should resume to regularly scheduled programming once I get into the range of another, functioning tower. But wife and I both work/live "nearby" this broke tower.
TPO uses both TMO and Sprint to support both GSM and CDMA devices. So, it all depends on which service you were using with TPO. For this promo, many phones that were once on the Sprint network are showing up as ineligible, so if you were on TPO's CDMA service, then you'll need to ask them to remove your phone's IMEI from the network to make it eligible.
What can I do? Should I ask Ting to remove my phone's IMEI from the CDMA network even though that my device is currently active with Ting?

Any impressions so far? I thinking about switching from Verizon to Sprint on my iPhone 6. I live in Phoenix.
How much are the monthly fees? Hows coverage in big cities?
