Bought the E4 via BBY deal. Got the phone and needed a sim card. Saw that I needed a "Special" Sim card (SIMGLW416Q). I went to about 4 different corporate and noncorporate stores to get it and none of them had it or would sell it to me. Finally the last corporate store I went to said he looked it up and it wasn't the 416q, but the 506c....so I thought wth and bought it. But it was the wrong sim card (duh). So I called sprint's number and they said they would send me the correct sim card - which they DID NOT. Finally I followed garymeter48's advice and bought the darned sim from BBY -- http://www.bestbuy.com/site/boost...Id=5887
TL;DR Re: Moto E4
1) get the sim card from BBY (using boost mobile kit which contains the 416q sim, 506c sim, and 506tq sim)
2) Do not go to sprint store.
3) for gophone transfer - pin is blank, they use name and phone number. SSN can be any 4 digits.
Hope this helps at least one of you.
>wife breaks screen on iPhone 2 weeks into new service
>no device protection
>have another iPhone, unlocked (Verizon), same exact model, try swapping sims -> locks the sim.
>try multiple thoughts/processes/interactions with Sprint, nothing works.
!!WHAT WORKED!!
>Get a new SIM from a Sprint corporate store (Repair store, they should give it to you free)
>Know your account PIN
>Call 888-211-4727, work through phone tree to the "swap phone" option, follow instructions, fails and transfers you to a rep.
>Rep will verify account pin and phone number you are working with.
>Give them the replacement phone's IMEI #
>REMAIN CALM, KIND AND DIRECT FROM THIS POINT ON
>They will question you where the phone came from "Is this a Sprint phone?", Insist this is an unlocked phone. DO NOT TELL THEM IT IS ANYTHING ELSE. Repeat "This is an unlocked phone" until they go to activate the device at a supervisor station.
>They will come back saying you need to visit a Sprint corporate store to obtain a new SIM, tell them you already have a new SIM from the store, they will ask you for the ICCID # (20-digit) off the new SIM. (give it to them, make sure they have it correct).
>Another hold to activate at supervisor station
>At this point they should have you install the new SIM, power the device on and enter a carrier update code in the keypad, after which the phone should work.
Lessons learned:
1. Phone reps are trying to upsell and not at all helpful unless you know exactly what you need to do.
2. This plan is a scarlet letter. Seriously, every rep I talked to (phone, chat and in retail and corporate stores) told me they cannot touch anything on the account. The corporate store rep specifically said "What do you expect? Its free!"
3. Contrary to my previous experience with Sprint, they now tie the SIM ICCID to the phone IMEI to the phone number and then the account number. They cannot/will not simply swap SIMs to ANY other device, you MUST get a new SIM.
tried a note 3 (FROM SPRINT) no dice
same with the note 4, sprint branded phone, no dice.
tried my nexus 6, says its not compatable with their network
my wifes 6p is somehow not compatible either, WTF?

The other day, I called Sprint telesales to add a line to my 1 Year Free plan, and Sprint let me port in my AT&T Prepaid (GoPhone) number. The rep asked if the number was postpaid or prepaid. I told her prepaid, and it still went through.
