Most people will have to do the Nexus 5 activation over the phone. Sprint only loaded the Verizon N5 IMEIs into the promo database, so if you try to bring over a N5 that was sold by Google or Sprint, it'll show as ineligible for the online promo.

The solution for this specific device is to pick up SIMGLW206R and then call in.

The phone agents can get any Nexus 5 to work for the free year promo.

There is nothing to do. All of the iPhone SE models originally sold in the US should be on Sprint's whitelist by default. That doesn't mean they will activate without issue, as a locked SIM or FED block from a Sprint MVNO will prevent activation. But that is separate from the whitelist.

Interestingly, a Sprint post-paid device with a FED block will activate w/o issue on a new Sprint post-paid line. It's just the MVNO devices that can't come back to Sprint proper until the FED block is cleared.

Hardware is not compatible. You're seeing that message because Sprint sucks at error messages.

The Ting checker is pretty much the authoritative source on if a device is eligible for Sprint or not. There are some edge cases of specific MVNO devices that were never cleared for Sprint post-paid, but are good for MVNOs, but otherwise trust what Ting says. Big Grin

Now regarding the non-Sprint iPhone SE (A1662) - It depends on user's location if Sprint has LTE Band 25 or 26 working. I believe Sprint's fastest LTE is on Band 41, but i'm not complaining about the service i'm receiving with LTE Band 25. I've confirmed that i'm connected to Sprint's Band 25.

Any iPhone SE originally sold in the US will work, unless it has a FED block or is SIM locked. Even the SIM locked devices should pass the promo check, which should allow it to be used as a placeholder, but it'll fail at the actual activation point due to the SIM lock, so it can't be used as a phone.

No. 446C is a CSIM. 416Q is an ISM.

The S8+ requires an ISIM. It won't work with a CSIM.

Depending on the device, you might need to reset the network services to reload the APN information (and get data) after switching. Most so that automatically tho.

You cannot simply swap SIMs. To swap devices, you'll want another phone with a compatible SIM in it. Then go onto your online account and enter the IMEI and the ICCID from the new phone and SIM and confirm the swap.

I think what you are thinking about is the ownership flag such that if you use the phone on Sprint postpaid it can't be used on Sprint prepaid or Sprint MVNOs without changing the ownership flag. That's different from locking a phone so that it can't be used on other carrier's networks. Sprint can't lock an unlocked phone.

It's the other way actually. Devices on Sprint post-paid can always move to MVNOs so long as no FED flag. Devices flagged for MVNO use can't move back to Sprint post-paid easily unless that flag is reset.

The SM-G935F is not compatible with Sprint. No CDMA support on the international version.

The Galaxy S5 is not on Sprint's current BYOD list.

I had tried a Verizon S5 also and got that message. Verified with Verizon that there was no issue. I guess it is simply because the S5 is not one of the phones listed as eligible.

I have a CSR told me that my Sprint iPhone SE is lost/stolen on their screen and their tech people in the U.S. said otherwise. You can try calling the number before hitting the store. CSR tell you to go to Store because they are too lazy to do the digging. Run into those many times... Good luck

The Verizon S4, the International S7E and the Verizon S5 are not on the list and are not compatible with Sprint, sadly. You'll need one of the phones from the list, or a Sprint version of those phones in order to activate for this deal.

She is on her parent's account. I think she could port out to a non-Sprint prepaid carrier and then port back into OP's account as a free line. However the problem is that her iP7 isn't paid off in full so if she ported out her balance owed would be come due in full on the other account.

You are correct. I meant retail sale units. Sorry about that. Too many carrier names in that last post.

Sprint was still a bit pissy about BYOD when the Nexus 5 came out, so it originally blocked units sold through TMO from activating on Sprint.

Units sold thru Sprint, Google Play, or retail sale (such as Best Buy) were all cleared for activation. Even then there was a hiccup, as the 16GB GP units were allowed, but the 32GB GP units weren't on the list for more than a month.

It was a mess, because the hardware was identical. As for 3G, the Nexus 5 is a LTE device and will hop on Verizon if you put a Verizon post-paid SIM in it.

You seem to keep confusing passing the whitelist with activating for calls. They are two separate things. Again, you can have a device that passes the whitelist and activates on the back end, but doesn't actually enable calls if the activation profile is incorrect or if the device is SIM locked to another carrier.

In the rare instance that a device is not on the whitelist for some odd reason, it can be brought into any Sprint store and added.

This is not me guessing. This is stated Sprint policy.

If it is a grey market iPhone SE device (originally sold outside the US), there is a good chance you'll run into activation issues.

If it is a Boost/Virgin iPhone SE device that hasn't cleared FED (even if it is SIM unlocked), it will be blocked.

I suspect most of the people who have issues activating are running into either FED issues, or they have the wrong flag on the device.

Most of the people who have claimed they are having issues had issues with the Verizon, AT&T and TMobile iPhone SE. The proof is in this thread. I don't have one of those devices, I am just reading what other are posting here.

You need the 416q. It is a single nano SIM card, not the 3 in 1.
