Therefor, I plan to buy a new unlocked Moto E for $129 (16GB) from Amazon Prime with one day shipping (phone is ad free. Perhaps later on I can find a cheap iPhone deal and then sell the Moto E).I currently use Cricket so will use that number to port. (I'll also need to put in a request to my credit reporting agencies to unfreeze my accounts).
Regarding the SIM: what steps do I need to do to be eligible for the BYOP deal? Do I need to have the SIM on hand when signing up for the BYOP deal, or can I sign up and get the deal first and then later obtain the SIM?
So much SIM confusion ... can someone quickly recap the quickest/cheapest way to obtain the SIM for this phone, and exactly which SIM to use?
Thanks a bunch!
I talked to 5 reps to no avail, but the last rep on phone and chat rep told me I would get 14 months free but my plan says I only get until 7/31/18....
Too tired to call them now... been on phone for 3 hours already

If you have your own SIM, you will not able to go through the sign-up process online, so be prepared to spend 45 minutes or so with Sprint on the phone to go through the activation. Keep your porting info handy - account number and PIN (if required) from Cricket.
If you order your SIM from Sprint, you can go through the process online, but you may run out of time if you don't have your SIM on-hand by the 31st.

Thanks for the concise info.
Repped!
A nearby BestBuy has the Moto E unlocked for the same price, so I'm just going to pick it up today at the store.
BTW, what's the process of ordering the SIM from Sprint? Cost & delivery time?

I have Prime and I'm seeing $129 for both the Ad and Ad-Free versions ... the only difference is I'd get one day shipping on the phone with Ads.

Good lucks...!!!
Good lucks...!!!
Not sure if the 9/30/18 language is always on the promo page, but I'm getting mixed answers from 5 different reps.

I'm going to head out in a few minutes to BB.
I just requested temporary unfreezes from all three credit reporting agencies.
OK, so the plan is to buy the Moto E (and try to get $99 price match) at BestBuy. Then I'll try to get a free SIM at a Sprint store, and if they seems like too much of a hassle I'll buy the Boost Mobile SIM kit at BB.
Then what do I do?
I'm porting a line from Cricket (where I use an old Moto G).
Do I need to insert the SIM into the Moto E? Do I need to bother with getting the Moto E activated on my Cricket account? Or do I just need my Cricket info (PIN#, account #, etc.) and Moto E phone identification number and speak to a Sprint CSR?
