Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

except there are monthly fees to maintain this and I'd likely leave data on the table I didn't use. I'm using less than 200MB on Tello $8/mo. I'm rooting for the small guy, but there are no guarantees in the MVNO biz. It would be funny if Ringplus came back in some form but they burned a lot of bridges.
I probably have at least two phones that are truly unlocked, the Prime Moto G4 and the fabulous Nexus 6. I just need to get them off Tello first, swaps are free and I have no shortage of R+ phones.
The taxes and fees would probably be less than the $8/mo you're paying with tello, but if you don't need that much data it might not be worth the hassle for you.

Elsewhere in this thread others reported phones not on the list that worked.
You did not read the instructions correctly.

I'll explain:

Get an IMEI of a phone that works on the list. You can get it from anywhere they're selling it. Make sure it works on the signup checker. I got some from the broken part of swappa.
Once you get the sims, you can say you are porting the phone number form the company and use the IMEI to be programmed.

After its all done, call again and do an ESN change. Keep the SIM, its reprogrammable. I'd use an iPhone 5S and up model to port, since they're the most universally accepted, you may use it again in the future.

I understand the IMEI placeholder but an ESN change is changing phones. Supposedly we are not allowed to swap phones for 120 days unless you keep the insurance and call in to claim that you lost or broke the phone. This may just be misinformation that was posted in this thread.but in the OP it says:

Phones Eligibility (You are not able to get a new phone from Sprint the first 120 days):

Am I interpreting this incorrectly?

How did you do it...by the online (My Sprint) or by a phone call?
Both times I called. Both times I somehow managed to get an American English speaking man. No accent.

I had to call the port number because one of my numbers took it's sweet time porting over and spoke to someone who had a very strong accent. I had a hard time understanding her, but she got the job done.

Telesales rep I spoke with said until the end of Sept., others on this thread have said end of Aug. The wording on the website now says: "Hurry, limited time offer."

That worries me they could pull it at any time or until they reach a certain number of subs. I wonder if they've made a definitive decision how long this will last till.

The Promotion main page said if you change your phone, they will remove the 1 year free promotion. The only way to change your phone is to swap it with another eligible phone.

It really depends on how you interpret this:

When can I upgrade to a new phone on this promotion?
If you signed up for the offer before 8/1/17, you can upgrade to a new Sprint phone by leasing or purchasing it in monthly installements after 10/1/17, and you'll still enjoy your free year of service. Any upgrades prior to 10/1/17 will require a plan change to Unlimited data, talk and text and you'll lose the remaining free months in your year of free service.

If you signed up 8/1/17 or later, you can upgrade to a new Sprint phone by leasing or purchasing it in monthly installements after 12/1/17, and you'll still enjoy your free year of service. Any upgrades prior to 12/1/17 will require a plan change to Unlimited data, talk and text and you'll lose the remaining free months in your year of free service.

But if you just buy your own phone and swap it in maybe you are ok. Perhaps that does not count as an "upgrade" since you aren't leasing or purchasing it in monthly installments from Sprint.

Yes, it is accurate.

I am waiting for iphone 8 and Sprint rep said if i want to upgrade (Sprint consider it as post paid) before 120 days then the free will be gone. But if you have unlocked phone owned by you, you are good and she said the swap is free. After 120 days you can upgrade for Sprint phone by choosing device plan keeping free plan.

Thanks, I also confirmed this with a Google search. What some people call an ESN "swap" is free on Sprint if you own the phone. So placeholder ESN then ESN swap should be a valid path.
