Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

I guess it depends on the rep you get... I activated a phone for my father with this plan last month and it turned out that there was an issue with the phone and it would not activate properly. It was a phone I bought from Amazon... When the replacement came and I wanted to switch the activation to the new phone they wanted to force me out of the free year plan... It took a lot of convincing to let them know that the first phone was never activated because it didn't work.
Why can't you just put the sim inside the new phone and use it? Why do you need to tell them you have a new phone?

Because that's not how CDMA works. That only works for GSM.

The longer sprint is offering this and not give a bone to existing customers the higher risk that they are drawing back their own customers for the free year. I ported my lone sero plan a family member have to Verizon for the 2 months and ported in a line from Google voice in the meanwhile until that waiting period is over to port back in from Verizon. They could have thrown something to the existing to keep people from doing that.

I am doing it because they took away the phone subsidy for having a contract thus sero is no longer the best deal by a mile. Verizon's 5gb plan is enough to hold most people over especially with employer discount (similar to sero monthly cost).

And LTE. Verizon lets you just swap sims and they use CDMA and LTE just like Sprint.
I think because Verizon can authenticate thru LTE while Sprint does not.

I've been on SERO for many years. I didn't realize that subsidized phones had gone away. I was thinking of cancelling when my contract with a Note 5 is up in December anyway, seeing how good some of the unlocked phones could be for $100-$130 (E4 and G4). I activated an E4 to keep when I do cancel, and use that until my wife's contract expires and we can switch to a family plan. I may just eat the ETF ($100 for 5 months) and go with the new free plan for myself for the next year.
I may try to port the number out to a cheap/free plan to save until I can use it again.
I'm sure this is not what Sprint had in mind with the program, but if it saves me $400 ($600 contract -$100 phone -$100 ETF) over the next year, well, it works for me.

It really depends on how you interpret this:

When can I upgrade to a new phone on this promotion?
If you signed up for the offer before 8/1/17, you can upgrade to a new Sprint phone by leasing or purchasing it in monthly installements after 10/1/17, and you'll still enjoy your free year of service. Any upgrades prior to 10/1/17 will require a plan change to Unlimited data, talk and text and you'll lose the remaining free months in your year of free service.

If you signed up 8/1/17 or later, you can upgrade to a new Sprint phone by leasing or purchasing it in monthly installements after 12/1/17, and you'll still enjoy your free year of service. Any upgrades prior to 12/1/17 will require a plan change to Unlimited data, talk and text and you'll lose the remaining free months in your year of free service.

But if you just buy your own phone and swap it in maybe you are ok. Perhaps that does not count as an "upgrade" since you aren't leasing or purchasing it in monthly installments from Sprint.
Both times I tried to switch my phone, the chat and phone agent told me if I switch my phone, I will lose the Free plan. If anyone got it work, and can verify their plans after the change, please speak up.
Thanks.

Thanks to folks.

I successfully opened the account, initiated porting on two freedompop numbers.

I did the porting request yesterday night and the number in fp is still active (about after 12 hours).

For those who activated from fp,
1- how long it took on porting ?

2- i am using a nexus 5 (on the website it shows ineligible, but tech team didnt said anything when I gave them imei). Used same sim which was used during r+.
Any one experienced similar? Like successful activating of device where site says ineligible but successful in activation?

3. If we only use data and no minutes will it be considered as breaking any terms and condition?

Does anyone know if there's any chance this would work with the "Clean Slate" (as they're calling it) bill payoff from another provider?

I brought two phones into BYOD (one old with my phone number, one new with a number I don't are about). I had Sprint swap the phone numbers (swap call-in is 888-211-4727, then 5,3,6,0). As best as I can tell, both phones are still on the free plan. One thing I will probably do is continue the old phone/new number one for the year, just to be sure I don't goof up the good one. That will cost me about $40 over the year in fees, but I think it is worth it to not risk killing the good phone.
