Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

When Sprint checks eligibility do they only care that your phone number was released from Verizon and that the IMEI is clean/ready to activate?
Yes as long the phone is one of the eligible phones.

Quote from inm8num2 :
Or do they somehow verify that the phone you're bringing to Sprint was previously activated on Verizon under a data/smartphone plan?
No, they have no way to do that and they don't care if you used it on Verizon anyhow.

Quote from inm8num2 :
Ideally my parents could make the switch and get the free year promo without first activating their new smartphones on Verizon
Correct.

This is one way to get market share, and maybe kill off some of the competition. Can't beat the price. Gonna research to see if we can cancel after the year is up.
the price is great but the quality might drive a lot of folks away after a year.

with all this free promo, when traffic hit's the lines all the free users will be placed as priority #2 . . . calls will drop and data will slow down to unusable speeds.

Yeah and I bet that's one of Verizon's excuses for having the highest prices historically
AT&T has the highest prices currently and they too have US based customer service. But yeah, of course US based customer service costs more. That is why the lesser networks off shore CS to these foreign countries.

In my 20 years of use, I've only needed to call customer service a grand total of 2 times.
That's you. I would much rather speak to an American who can speak and understand English and who I can understand than some third world inhabitant reading from a script with an accent so heavy I can't understand it.

Quote from jeffhanson :
Everything else was handled in store
Waaaaaay too much of a hassle to spend the money and time to drive to a store and then wait in line. Lol! Who would be so stupid as to drive to a store when you can simply dial 611? Old people, lol!! That's who I see in the stores when I go there to look at phones, stupid old people who are baffled by technology and they get taken advantage of by the commission based sales people, lol!

The only reason to do to a store is to look at the phones. If I want a new SIM card, I simply call and they mail them to me for free. Much quicker and easier than going to a store.

Nope, deprioritization is based entirely on how much data you use, not how much you pay for the line.

Since Sprint is inviting everyone, how about a VZ prepaid Moto-E4 (~$40+Tax, from Walmart)?
Wont it then cost you $65 ($35 + $30) to connect it to Verizon Prepaid ?

(Unless you already have another phone connected to VZ or VZ Prepaid.)

Thanks for clarifying. I figured as much but just wanted to be sure in case I overlooked something.

Yes of course it only happens during congestion. And only if you have used more than 23GB of data in the billing cycle. The price you pay for your line has nothing to do with it.

There is no need at all to do it unless there is congestion, duh.

It won't work on Sprint anyhow, Sprint won't whitelist it. There is no need to talk about it.

OK, I was able to get a Tracfone ATT sim & phone number transferred. I also did it in store because I got errors online and got the run around over the phone.

The phone was a unlocked Virgin Mobile iPhone 5c. Once unlocked it was able to do both ATT & Freedom Pop global sim, but I couldn't get the T-Mobile sim to work on it. The Freedom Pop global sim was also eligible, but went for the Tracfone since I finally got the account number and so that was easier. Don't call the help line for your account number use online chat help!

I also got lucky since I had already activated a Tablet since I needed a big screen device & hotspot for work, they allowed the free line despite it not being a fully new account, but YMMV. Took about 4-5 days altogether & if you can find a small town Sprint if you need to do in person, for better service, but again YMMV.

The iPhone didn't show as eligible when it was still on Virgin Mobile, but when I swapped out to an old S3 & put the ATT Tracfone sim the phone showed eligible within a day.

Overall happy, but the hot spot functionality took a few days to activate since the 5c says it need to be activated online, but when I tried to do it I got errors. Few days later, hot spot was active and I didn't do anything online. The online account management is SO BUGGY. It is a real pain to use, but free is free. Hope I can get another one activated or at least get my brother or pops to and just use that.

My line was in the process of port-in from FP to Sprint. So far, no service and my MEID is till shown to be available for new activation via Ting and Swappa ESN checker. Is it normal? I thought I am supposed to be given a temp number to use during the port-in period. Any comments will be appreciated!
