Anyone here have the S8+ that heard about a new update in regards to WiFi Calling for Sprint? Right now it doesn't have the capabilities but I thought I read somewhere that an update for that issue shold be landing around now.
Correct, as mentioned by edog11 and others, I now have Calling Plus on my S8+, via over the air update, as do many other people who have S8 or S8+.

Right now it is only for the Sprint S8/S8+, not the open S8.

Calling Plus includes both the old "Wifi Calling" and the new "LTE Calling." You can use both or either.

LTE Calling provides simultaneous web and voice over LTE.

I leave it on all the time and it works fine.

The voice quality is improved too.

It is officially "beta."

It is not yet known when/if it will be released for the open edition. . You can follow this thread (at the end).:

http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic...os/page-42

You could wait a while first as various people in that thread are in the same position as you and are looking into that issue.

You can flash it if you want. Some have done so. Flashing instructions are there on the thread linked to above.

If its the A1778, it will not work with Sprint. One of our phones is a Tmo iPhone A1178 and confirmed no-go so we are looking into other options for it.
Correct the A1778 uses an Intel modem no cdma.
The A1660 uses Qualcomm modem and supports cdma which is needed for sprint.

If its the SM-G955U (SM-G950U for S8) no issues. If its a carrier model, you will be at the mercy of Sprint white-listing the IMEI.

If I want to add an old Sprint phone as a new line (to my established BYOD - 1yr free unlimited services account), do I have to call the CSR in Promotion team or can I do it myself...via the on-line?

You can only add lines by calling the special promo number

Actually all the US models are called SM-G955U(G950U) but are defined with firmware code. XAA is unlocked, SPR is sprint, ATT is att, TMB is T-Mobile, and VZW is Verizon.
Sprint will whitelist XAA and SPR models but not others unless you can somehow convince them to.

That's because you put it on Ting. Now the ownership flag in the Sprint DMD says PLBL instead of SPCS.
I ported my iphone SE 16gb with numbers to Ting from Sprint.......is that only a problem if I wanted this 1 year free plan (not interested in it) or does porting to Ting create any other issues for my unlocked iphone Se 16gb phones??

I have $150 in Groupon credits. I keep seeing deals on Groupon for iPhones unlocked for "AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon", but no mention of Sprint. Will an IPhone from here work, or do i need a Sprint specific one? The wiki says Verizon iPhones will work, but I'm not sure these qualify. TIA!

I just got an email from Sprint today saying that my referral may have resulted in an award, for a paid account I cancelled 3 weeks ago. What's the likelyhood I'll actually get the $50 Visa cards?

If the phone was on Ting CDMA, it needs its ownership flag flipped to SPCS. And of course, you can't port in a Sprint MVNO number.
