So my thoughts were to go to Best Buy, upgrade current phone to iPhone 7 Plus (which means paying off current phone in whole), then porting out my number to a different service (like T-Mobile), then porting back to Sprint with this deal.
Is that something I can do? Or because I'm already on Sprint, I'm unable to do this?
sorry slickdeal - i did this on two new individual account time to add additional lines waiting for new phones to come

Best I can tell, all these devices should be compatible, so what gives?CUSTOMER SERVICE IS PAINFUL AND SERVICE IS NOT WORTH THE PAIN.
ALSO THAT PRIVATE MESSAGE THING IS ANOTHER TRAP AND THERE IS NO SUPPORT WHAT SO EVER.
I HAVE FALLEN FOR THE TRAP SINCE TWO MONTHS STRUGGLING TO GET THEY MONKEY OFF MY BACK.
Last day again I spent 2 hours to give another chance. There is no hope on customer support and the people work in finance can't do simple math... How in the earth this Company can still exist, I can't understand.

The expectations of free 1yr service along with 10gb hotspot and uncapped til 23gb speeds.
The wifi calling is internal so I myself do not get any echo or bounced lagged convo.
For instance - activated two Moto G5 Pluses, brought two lines over, activated super fast - great job, Sprint.
My G5 Plus seemed to have a defective earpiece, so I looked to use an unlocked iPhone that had previously been active on Virgin Mobile. For ANY OTHER CARRIER, the process goes like this:
Remove SIM from current phone and place in iPhone.
For Sprint, it started in the online portal. Then went to a chat (10 minutes). Then to a phone call (15 minutes). Then I was told they couldn't activate my unlocked, full priced iPhone because it was on some Sprint prepaid list. They would never be able to activate, no matter what, on Sprint postpaid. What?!?
So, because the earpiece was still broken, I purchased a used LG V20 from eBay for about the same price as the G5. Again, tried to activate in the online portal and got a different error message. This went to a chat (5 minutes) where problem was solved.
I also didn't realize I'd be unable to change the phone number on my line. Rather, you can change the number, but you are unable to transfer a number from another service onto the line. It's OK, just something to consider.
This is all to say it is a free/low cost service, but if things go wrong know Sprint's CS really is bad. If the hope is for all of us to continue being Sprint customers when the year is up they've got some work to do. Also - service is a lot spottier than ATT/Cricket and a lot slower than T-Mobile. Nothing new to report. Maybe things will improve this year. It's saving me about $800 for my two lines this year, so I'm appreciative of that.
Editing to add:
Roaming is fairly useless. I use Google Voice for my main number and I can't even send/receive texts when roaming.
Hotspot works great! Thanks Sprint.
Call quality is generally quite good, but not having data while on a call feels very old school.
The V20 is a beast and a great buy at current prices.

I did talk to the regular Sprint CSR at the normal support number in my account and specifically asked if it would mess up my 1 yr free BYOD line, and she said no ... which of course is no guarantee but I have 4 other Sprint free BYOD lines so it wasnt horrible if it didnt work...so I then called the Sprint Port Dept: 1-855-641-1960 and again made sure it wouldnt mess up my Free BYOD....and he said it would be fine, port in took about 10 minutes.
I guess I will have to port out the number next year when this free 1 yr promo ends ...it's a good number!
thanks 4 the reply...repped.....
its funny, i asked the promo people, and they told me it wasnt possible
out of curiosity, did u take any precautions before u did that?
i mean were u sure it would not mess up the 1 year promo?
so i have a disposable mobile number from freedom pop and eligible phone.
my real number is currently with sprint
i have concern that i may get errors when i set this up online (credit score too high)
so what i would like to do is start the process by port in the FP number.....
then once everything is "as it should be"...port my real number from sprint to number barn.
then , in a few days, port the real number from number barn over the FP number on the 1 year free plan
i dont want to port to number barn and risk my number be in limbo..
also, would not want to port to google voice
any suggestions?
