i am being told that a sprint sim i got from Samsung Note8 purchase (SIMOLW416Q) is not compatible with an unlocked Moto G4 i was trying to pair it with. anyone know why? that is the sim card model listed in wiki and moto g4 is unlocked model.
Moto G4 uses 446C or 506C(universal) sim.

Ineligible message on sprint checker but a Great News compatible message on Ting.
They would only say it was not eligible for the promotion when I called.
I get more details from them than that. You have to draw it out of them by suggesting possibilities. Tell them it clears Ting etc. I would try again with another rep, or call on another offer.

One good technique is to (white) lie and say the web site said it is eligible.

Also if you have or can put another phone on the plan, you can try a swap to replace it with this phone, which can be done by tech. support chat rather than involving sales.

If it was on an mvno (was it?) you need to have the ownership flag reset from PLBL to SPCS for it to be eligible. There are posts here on how to do that. That is a very likely problem source.

Yes. They might not have stand alone 446C or 506C in stock but the boost 3 SIM card kit includes the 506C.
The boost triple SIM kit comes with SIMOLW416Q + SIMOLW506C + SIMOLW506TQ

I would imagine so they seem to have a lot of different types of sprint sims. The had the one for the nexus 5x I was looking for when I was trying to activate it. Also eBay has some cheap sims just be careful you get the right one.

You can use any sprint phone. I got a lg g2 from eBay for $45. Just to use for a extra line. You can get really good deals on lg phones. That note 2 is rather old.
Are you saying that any sprint phone can be used for BYOD? I thought it is only from the qualifying list as in OP.

Anyone else can comment?

Any Sprint postpaid phone with usual exceptions for prior mvno use (correctable), still listed on another account, outstanding balance, reported lost or stolen, etc. etc.

Ported in 1 line by calling in - picked up sim at a Sprint Store (YMMV). Took about 30 mins - mostly trying to spell my name and address. I was told that the promotion is until Oct end so it might be extended past Sept 30th but don't take my word for it.
So did you sign up completely by calling in, then pick up the SIM card after signing up?

Oh no! Picked up the SIM at the store and then called in to sign up. The telesales person was real nice and was easy to setup everything. The port from T-Mobile went through almost instantaneously.

Ok, thank you. Maybe I'll try to get the SIM cards tomorrow to be ready. Need to wait until contract is up Thursday to sign up.

Just picked up the SIM from Apple. Let's hope this deal does extend to next month since my VZW contract ends early Oct.
