Is this workflow right? .
Sprint SIMs are not universal. The SIM you get has to be compatible with both phones for this to work (or if the phones use different SIMs then you need 2 SIM cards). You can also get the SIM from eBay, Apple, Best Buy, local Sprint store. Afterwards just call Sprint to activate.

So, I just need any IMEI & Phone number combination that pass the eligibility check to order the sim. Once the sim arrives, I can insert it to the my old sprint iphone and call the tech to activate it. Is this workflow right?
Just want to double check before I start execute it. Thanks.
Not exactly.

But first, was the phone ever on an mvno? If so, you probably just need to reset the ownership flag. LiterallyUnlimited can do that for you - search him on this forum.

Was it acquired originally with restrictions limiting it to use on Sprint Prepaid?

If so, they will never activate it no matter what (in most cases).

Had a iphone active on tello swapped the device (imei + sim ) with an old moto from RP days, then ported google voice number + the iphone. Used the iPhone with the same old sim. After port just reset network & restart.. Hope that helps...

Sprint sims (and those of its mvno's and subsidiaries) never expire and can always be activated in any device (that takes that particular sim) at Sprint or any of its MVNO's.

Sims are never a factor in eligibility (or not) of a device (although they cannot remain active elsewhere). For Sprint, eligibility goes solely based on the IMEIt (unlike other carriers) and the phone number.

But yes, it is good for people to be aware that it is never necessary to get a new sim if you are moving a device onto Sprint and the device already has a Sprint sim from elsewhere. I never touch them.

Also, I might have missed it but did you say whether you have tried https://ting.com/byod to see what it says for your IMEI?

Ting has programmed so that it automatically fixes up the ownership flag for some phones! All you have to do is enter your IMEI.

No HD voice unless you have sprint phones.
I switched using my Verizon phones and the call sound quality stinks. After many calls to sprint I was told that if I want HD voice to improve sound quality I will have to purchase sprint phones.

Voice quality is one problem, wait the voice jitters and dead air start happening. Sprint service is unacceptable, it should be illegal for them to stay in business.

Is there an end date on this deal? I know it's been extended but I have to pay ETF with ATT and then unlock my device which they said might take a week and Sprint couldn't guarantee the deal would be active through any certain date.

I could pull out my magic crystal ball to look into the future. I haven't needed it since the Ringplus days.
