I'm doing this in Portland on my unlocked S8, and man does the Sprint network suck compared to Tmobile. Everything is worse: speed, reception, wifi calling, voicemail, and especially audio quality. I'm struggling to stick with this at the price of Free. No way would I pay money for it.
You would at least have Visual Voicemail and LTE Calling (beta) on the Sprint S8 software. You can flash it if you want (see S8 thread on s4gru for how if interested).

Any chance we'll still be able to add additional free lines to our existing accounts after the promo end date??
No way to yet know, but it seems unlikely.

I've been on this plan for about two months with my Moto G5 plus. I get most of my text messages, but not all of them. Both my wife and I are having the same issue on the same plan/phone combo.

I do not receive about 5% of my text messages I'd estimate based on talking to others when they ask me why I didn't text back and they show me their phone with the text sent.

Does anyone else have this problem? We were not having this issue with the Moto G5+ while on Straight Talk. Only when we swiched to the free Sprint service.

Make sure you are not running any extra/non-standard apps. that intercept, manage or monitor SMS messages. They are often the cause.

Hello,

I do not have the MOTO G5+, but my household member has one (2 lines on the same BYOD plan). She and I text each other every day. She always receive and reply to my texts every single time. She never misses one. Hope this helps.

I know the galaxy S6 is not on the BYOD list, but does anyone know if it would work? It's the sprint version of the phone and is unlocked.

I'm considering that. Heaven knows I've done a lot of phone flashing back in the day. But the Sprint version has a lot of bloat. The Unlocked S8 worked perfectly with Tmobile without needing their stock firmware. And one of the things I liked about it was being able to switch back and forth if needed.

Appreciate the head's up though.

is there a list of apps I should review to see if I have some on my phone? I googled the issue you mention and all the hits I got were unrelated (how to spy on others).

Also wanted to mention that we brought our phones to a store and they were confused.

If you have not installed any apps that take over or otherwise deal with sms it would not apply. There are quite a few sms replacement apps or sms logging apps etc.

Get a new number elsewhere and port it in. It does not need to be connected to the phone prior to being ported in.

Would guess have to port off to another carrier then port back. Since not for existing Sprint customers.

Can you please suggest a cheap and fast option to get a new phone number that can be ported over?
