If you buy a device from Apple @ full price (lump sum), it is weird that Sprint is charging a fee. Makes me nervous that thet fee might be perceived as an "upgrade" by Sprint and mess with the free plan. In a few weeks, the carrier free version of the X will be available (as it is now for the 8), and then you don't need to give any carrier information when you buy, and can do the esn swap yourself.
I tried to buy x from Apple this morning. It showed I'm on a $5 monthly plan.

Can someone remind me if Verizon's version of the Moto E4 Plus work on this? It's on the 'list" but does it need to be unlocked first?

If you refering to pre paid phone post paid maybe different. This link wiki has the answer but will post the section also. https://slickdeals.net/f/10418732-select-walmart-stores-16gb-moto-e4-verizon-prepaid-smartphone-39-90-w-free-store-pickup
WILL NEVER work with Sprint since Sprint uses a whitelist ESN system. If you buy unlock code it will work with GSM carriers AT&T and T-mobile since GSM carriers do not whitelist ESN for activation.

Has anyone successfully ported an iPhone 7 Plus (SIM Free) version to this plan? I understand that the list says only Verizon version is eligible but I guess it is because ATT/Tmobile versions do not support CDMA. However, the sim-free version is unlocked and does support CDMA and GSM.

My phone uses Tello (on the sprint network) now so the online check shows it is not eligible. Just wanted to make sure sim-free version is allowed before I cancel Tello.
I moved a iPhone 6s on tello to sprint. You can't get the number ported. The way I got it to work

1st step swap the device with a placeholder device on tello by calling them. 2nd now your iPhone becomes eligible (old sim can be used). 3rd step port GV number with the iPhone over to sprint

You say "tried" to buy. So, did Apple ever put through a transfer? At what point did it show you are on the $5 plan? Did you set this plan up before Apple/with another phone?

Note, iphone X is only available for pre order. So can't be activated. Supposed to be available 11/3/17.

I have successfully ported my iPhone 7. Just give ur phones imei in sprint eligiblity checker to check whether it qualifies. I bought my phone in target so it qualified. If you have bought in att then I doubt. I have updated the detail somewhere back in the thread.. Anyway If the sprint says ur device eligible then u r good to go. I have done it and it's going good so far. Not that great network coverage though. But it's free 😋

Did Tello change PLBL flag to SPCS for you?

Yes, that's why I was wondering. He said "tried to buy" and then "checked the plan". So, I was wondering if he bought something else @ Apple and they transferred before he checked.

My phone uses Tello (on the sprint network) now so the online check shows it is not eligible. Just wanted to make sure sim-free version is allowed before I cancel Tello.

I bought iPhone 7 Plus (SIM Free) in Apple Store in April. Used on T-Mobile for a few months. Ported T-Moblie phone number and activate iPhone 7 plus in August. No problem at all. Did same for iPhone SE A1662 (sim free). Also, activated T-Mobile iPhone 6S and Virgin Mobile iPhone 5S porting T-Mobile phone number. I was surprised that I could use Virgin Mobile iPhone 5S with this free plan. Maybe because 5s was activated with RingPlus last year before Sprint enforced FED rule..

I just activated the 5th line a few days ago with Sprint iPhone SE (A1723) bought from Craigslist. Before I met with the seller, I asked for IMEI, and verified that the IMEI qualify for either activating as new line, or swapping phone used on one of existing line, then use the freed phone to activate a new line. Interesting thing is when I first checked, IMEI qualified for the free plan. But after I bought the phone, I needed to activate it to finish setting up as new iPhone because it's still Sprint-locked. I put a old Sprint sim card into it to pass the activation. But after that the IMEI no longer qualified for this promo, possible due to sim card used during iPhone's activation messed things up. Finally, I put a NEW sim card in it, reset the iPhone. Called tech support to check what's wrong with phone, old or new sim card. Tech support could not find anything wrong with them. One day later, it qualified again. I got the 5th line by porting a Freedompop number using a Spring locked iPhone SE (A1723).

I specifically wanted to test how SE 1723 perform because A1723 can use LTE band 41. I tested it at place where Spring LTE signal is strong. iPhone 7 Plus: 73 Mbps down; iPhone SE 49 Mbps down. I used field test manual to confirm both phones on LTE band 41. So, even on LTE band 41, SE still can not compete against 7 Plus LTE speed. It's possibly that SE's TD-LTE modem chipset is old technology.

Inactive phone is ok, but you DO need to port a line. But, just get yourself a T-mobile Sim and activate it Prepaid without funding it and you can x-fer right away. Also, note desi's advice above. HURRY!
What is running out? The 1 year free plan from sprint?

Another unrelated question- can any version of iPhone X(cdma or gsm) be used on any network. The reason is i am with sprint now and might eventually move to att or T-Mobile. So was wondering if i can buy it now for full price and use it with sprint and then take it to att/tmobile.
