I have sprint SIM from when I had service until Feb 2017 on Iphone 6S which has 20numbers on it.
So I should be able to use the same SIM card to activate this free service right?

also opened a google voice line and paid $3 for unlock feature. Will try calling Sprint and see how it goes

You can always use/reuse a Sprint sim without limitation. Everything goes by IMEI only.

Well I should have checked this thread and not trusted the sprint reps to do their job. Spoke with them on the phone, chat, and in store before pre ordering the iphone x at the store. Signed the lease paperwork for the $350 discount when trading in my iphone 6, etc. Went to pickup my phone on the 3rd. Looked beautiful, but when they went to activate it on my plan, they said I had to switch to a $60 a month plan. ROFL. Heck no. Anyway, had to cancel the order and of course I had already bought accessories for the new iphone x on amazon and returning them isnt worth what i would get back. After about 2 more hours of wasted time with Sprint, I did find out that i could upgrade my phone after 12/1 and still keep my 1 year free sprint plan since i signed up after 8/1 (last month was my first month back with sprint).
I think it is becoming clear that anyone who is on this plan and wants an Iphone X had best wait for the SIM Free version.

Even though the "evidence" seems to indicate that the offer will run (at least) until January 31, 2018, they specifically state that it can be withdrawn at any time. Anyone who wants in on this deal would be silly to wait. From the first line if the Wiki: "Promo Status: Limited Time offer....it can end any time".

Edit/Update: Just read the story @ that link. It REALLY is over. This is not posturing or negotiation. There will be no merger in the foreseeable future.

Sprint SIMs never expire, BUT they are specific to which phone you have. As usual, see the Wiki, page 1.

I got ATT s8+ from previous deal and it is unlocked. I have checked with tmobile and it works. Sprint does not recognize esn, i have tried chatting with tech person, talked to tech team over phone and also went to a corporate store. None of them could activate imei. Is there a way to get the phone working with Sprint one year free plan

Sprint wont whitelist the IMEI from AT&T's version of the phone so it'll never work on Sprint

It is not listed as eligible. I do not see that it has band 25 and 26 which are essential.
Theoretically you could flash it to the Sprint firmware and then request a store manager to add the IMEI to the database but they are unlikely to be willing to do that since according to their information it lacks the needed bands.

It is my understanding that only the FACTORY unlocked version (direct from Samsung) or the Verizon version will work on Sprint. Not the AT&T or T-Mobile versions.

First rule of slickdeals has always been act now, think later. That said, without merger, Sprint will be even more desperate for new customer acquisition, so if anything, the outlook has improved for this promo to go even longer. Applause

And since they won't make any money off of you!

I hope you are right, and I hope that I am looking for long-lost cousins to loan me their SS# in February of 2018 so I can port in/port out, and extend this offer! laugh out loud

But, I'm not sure. All the carriers are customer acquisition centric. A "Free" model can only work for so long (roll .com meltdown tapes). Notice that none of the other providers have jumped in to compete with "Free Year" offers. Than being said, it's ALL conjecture.

If you want it, get it today, and enjoy the ride wherever it goes. But DON'T be a day late and have to watch from the sidelines!
