What happens if you leave after 9 months? I know you have to pay the rest of the payments off but do you lose the discount?
yes, because you are giving up your trade in discount.

What about on the S8 where it says save 50% instantly(no bill credits). Could you just sign up for flex lease and then just pay off phone after a few days and get full 50% off?
I never did flex lease gimmick before.

Can I do this free plan and buy a iphone X from sprint on the free line and only pay for the iphone? Wiki says the below.. So if I signup for a single BYOD line now, I can buy iphone x on 12/1 on installment? Is that right? But may not be able to take advantage of possible $250 best buy or target gift card deals for thanks giving?

If you signed up 8/1/17 or later, you can upgrade to a new Sprint phone by leasing or purchasing it in monthly installements after 12/1/17, and you'll still enjoy your free year of service. Any upgrades prior to 12/1/17 will require a plan change to Unlimited data, talk and text and you'll lose the remaining free months in your year of free service.

Does your phone work 100% o sprint? Your phone seems to be missing bands 38 and 41, or at least have those bands turned off. Did your firmware turn these bands on?? I like the idea of putting one of my Galaxy's on Sprint, but without high speed LTE its a waste.
The firmware files (CP and CSC) turn on/off the radio bands and carrier-specific features. For the S7/S8 that was discussed earlier, bands 38 and 41 are supported by both devices.

Quote from SkyKing02 :
You don't need to wait for an upgrade because I don't see anything different than without upgrade option. You are still paying full price for the phone.
The advantage of doing upgrade is when there is deal/promo from Sprint (see below), where you don't pay full price to own the device.

Yes, you can. You pay off the remaining discounted lease payments plus the PPO (purchase price option) to own the device. If you cancel the service/line within 14 days, Sprint will also refund all service charges and fees back to you.

For those of you who want to do an ESN/Device swap

you don't even have to go to chat. you go to sprints page and find the link to do the swap
and do it yourself.

btw i have an old kyocera phone that i was trying to get swapped in by chat.. i didn't have the right sim card so i thought the rep didn't process it.. and apparently she did.

My phone was running on 3g with no sim card, and i was able to stream music for my 2 hour long
trip to md's eastern shore and use ways and hardly lost 3g coverage anywhere. I was pretty happy with it. i'm still using it with no sim for now.

update: login to your sprint account, sprint dashboard, then click my sprint, then under the more list on the right, click activate/swap device, that is where you'll find it

Are there any restrictions to swapping ? The wiki says you can swap only eligible phones, does that mean you can only swap to a phone that is on the eligible list of devices or can I swap to any device ? i am looking to use an old Samsung S4 so any advice is appreciated.

also , if I were to swap to a device that was originally on spring but not currently , what is the process ? are there are difficulties in doing this ?

I'm new to this deal, and I am having a hard time finding a phone I can use.

Can I just order a Samsung S8 directly from Sprint while I go through the link to order the service and port my existing number from Ting?

Seems that once you're in on the deal, and have one of the phones on the list registered, that you can swap out any phone that's compatible with the Sprint network and whitelisted. Changing to a previous Sprint phone afterwards shouldn't be a problem, as long as it has no contract obligation attached to it.

No, this offer is exclusively bring your own device. You cannot/don't want to buy your initial phone from Sprint. the cheapest, most available option for this plan is the Moto E4, available at Best Buy and some other places.

Thank you.

So Sprint is offering 50% off on the S8 but it looks like if I try to pay off the device and cancel the line after say 2 days, I will have to pay full price to pay off the phone. It is 50% off only if I keep the monthly plan. is that correct?
